  • I don’t remember when I started to triple check the locks on my doors. When I stopped riding in elevators. When I started to plan my days so that I was home before dark. ⁣
⁣
I’m not sure when I started to sit only with my back against a wall. My eyes on the exits. ⁣
⁣
I remember a semi truck hurtling towards me on an icy highway. Hitting me sitting in the passenger side. I don’t remember getting out. Don’t remember waiting for help. I remember seeing the back of my jacket in the ambulance. Wondering if I was dead.⁣
⁣
I remember feeling nauseous and panicked every time I had to ride in a car. Clutching the seatbelt for dear life anytime we passed a truck. I felt it in my skin — out of control. ⁣
⁣
I’ve spent the 20+ years since that day trying to get it back. Control. Setting up situations that I can either control or leave easily. On the road and in life. ⁣
⁣
20+ years being embarrassingly reminded again and again — and then beautifully reminded by nature — I am not in control. ⁣
⁣
The sun is going to rise. The seasons will change. We can’t control the outcomes. We can only move through it gracefully. Find a new way of seeing things. ⁣

  • You have to get to a point where your mood doesn’t shift based on the insignificant action of someone else. Don’t allow others to control the direction of your life. Don’t allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence! ✨

I’m forever searching for clarity. For that moment that will change everything. The a ha. Innately I know that life is a string of small moments of what we mostly mistakenly believe to be clarity. What we think is the big life change. Now that I ____ or when I finally just ____ then everything will come together.⁣
⁣
Only to find out later it was all just part of the process. A fraction of something much greater. The things we couldn’t see at the time. Can’t easily explain or quantify. Just the vague sense of something. It’s happening, but what is it. ⁣
⁣
I’m different than I was one year ago. One month ago. One week ago, even. But where is it all leading? ⁣
⁣
I read that Mother Teresa once said she wouldn’t pray for clarity, only trust. I try to live by this every day. Trust. I don’t need to see the through line — I know it’s there because I feel it when I stray too far away. ⁣
⁣
So I’ll keep following. Keep trusting.

  • The funny thing about Instagram is that, for me anyways, it's a visual community that thrives on words. The story is what's important. And words matter. Like they told you in kindergarten, they can help or hurt. ⁣
⁣
I used to be known for being mysterious. Private. Secretive, even. I kept everything in. Didn’t let my cards show. ⁣
⁣
Now I basically journal every morning on the internet. Weird, I know. I say it all the time, but there’s power in honesty. Truth telling. Vulnerability. And despite what it looks like, I’m still really bad at it. I work at it every day because I’m still that bad at it. ⁣
⁣
But words are important. So I’ll keep trying. ⁣
⁣
With that in mind, I’m excited to share the first article in a regular column I’m writing for my friends @roam I’ll link it in my bio and story and would love for you to read it. Thanks for the support 💜

  • My best power pose. 😂 This was from an afternoon off from work to take advantage of our extremely short fall season. I had to do my employee self-review yesterday and it got me feeling super grateful for the team that I work with. My job is so overwhelming sometimes, but remembering to be grateful for the good things helps me from going crazy. And I feel so lucky to have such great coworkers... even though I try to hid from them on Instagram. 🤣

  • It’s crazy how you can be out in the wilderness one day –completely disconnected from the world in terms of tech, but more connected than you’ve ever been when it comes to nature – and then back at your desk in front of a screen the next.
That’s one thing that’s always confused me about photography. No matter how remote the experience might be, you always find yourself whipping out your laptop to edit a few captures whenever possible. I’m curious: do you think that interrupts an otherwise immersive trip? Do you edit on the go or wait to drop photos until you’re back in society?

  • Took most the day off to hike through the desert with first light, climb up loose rock and balance on an exposed spine, and run the last 2 miles back through sandy riverbeds to make it home in time for a conference call. The last video is how I felt about the whole day and my final outdoor pursuit of Arizona 2019🤘🏜 #soulsendit #goodforthesoul

  • I used to weigh 200lbs. I lost 65 pounds in 2017 and then gained half of that weight back in 2018 after a concussion and my sweet granddad passing. 🌧 It was hard to make anything sound fun, even hiking or running. BUT lately, I’ve been trying to get back into it and I’ve decided I’m going to run a half marathon in summer 2020 (and I’m volunteering as a coach with @girlsontherunpdx)! Last night, I set two new running personal records that I’m SUPER proud of. I ran my fastest 5K in 28:43 and my fastest mile at 8:32! 🎉🎉 It’s not the distance that I’d like to be at (a half marathon is about 21K), but that speed makes me pretty darn happy with where I’m headed. At my peak of running, I was running 6-9 miles every other day, but I was running 10-minute miles. I am a woman DETERMINED to rise and outdo even my best self. 🔥

  • We think we know people. ⁣
⁣
We especially think we know the people we love inside and out… like our family, friends, and partners.⁣
⁣
Yet, we only know what they want us to know… what they’re willing and able to share. ⁣
⁣
The truth is, we never really know what’s going on in other people’s hearts, no matter how much we think we do. No matter how intuitive we are or how close we’ve become.⁣
And sometimes when bad things happen to the ones we love, our relationships fall apart, or our life is changed in an instant… we feel the heaviness of guilt. ⁣
⁣
I could’ve said something differently. ⁣
I could’ve done something differently. ⁣
I could’ve… I would’ve… I should’ve. ⁣
⁣
But the reality is, you couldn’t have. ⁣
⁣
Because you only knew what you knew then, and you can only ever know so much about the people that surround you. That’s just the nature of living, loving, and losing in this life… and it’s so far from easy, I know.⁣
⁣
Feel your feelings and process what needs to be processed, but don’t let guilt weigh heavy on your heart for long. You did the best you could. Maybe now you know better or different… so you can do better and different… but there’s no sense beating yourself up over the past. Give yourself the gift of grace. 💕

  • ↠ My boyfriend, Dom, and I @bitesizetravels were living in San Francisco and found ourselves renting cars to go on weekend excursions whenever possible. We loved exploring California but had a long list of places in other states to explore. We yearned for spontaneity.
.
I discovered the vanlife movement on Instagram around 4 years ago and it had been an "eventual dream" for me. In late 2017, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and it helped me realize that I would regret not doing things when I had the chance. So we both had very candid conversations with our bosses, put in a plan to go remote, bought a van, and got to work converting it.
.
We realize we have the benefit of working in the tech industry and not everyone has jobs that can be adapted to being remote. But we wanted to make the most of it and center our lives around what made us happiest, and for us that meant travel came first, and work second.
.
The initial challenge was realizing how much planning and research we had to do. We had no carpentry or electrical skills, and knew no one that did. We also decided on a 5-month deadline, knowing we wanted to set off on our trip around Dom's birthday.
.
Working full-time, that meant we only had weekends. It was probably a curious sight for people seeing us hammering and sawing away on a sidewalk in Oakland, but you do what you gotta do (and luckily.. the van only got spray painted once).
.
We didn't have a lot of time to rest or be social in those months, and sometimes tensions ran high, but we knew it would pay off in the end. The visions of waking up to crisp air in the mountains and cruising through lush forests kept us going. A combo of youtube, blogs, and some creativity helped us finish the build by ourselves, and we couldn't be prouder!

  • Ah yep, another sport I'm aggresively mediocre {if not downright well below average} at. Like let's be real here, I mostly spent this day dangling off my board and employing it as a glorified pool noodle so I could kick around in the waves. And when I got exhausted from sucking so hard, I could lay on it and float around admiring others as they did the actual thing. It was pretty great honestly, I had a grand time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On a side note, this was also the weekend I thought that concocting a timtam slam with hot whiskey heated in a pot in the microwave would be a genius idea. The execution was for sure questionable on safety fronts, but the outcome was semi favourable and has been repeated many times since.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyway. It seems like some people take themselves rather seriously with their leisure sports these days, as evidenced by social media and the endless slew of hero shots and other cool kid stuff. I hope we can all check ourselves once in a while to remember that these things, they're for fun. Like, go actually have fun. And if you're too worried about being "good" and "serious" to the point that it isn't fun anymore, well, you might be missing the whole damn point.

Trail running has become an outlet for me and even in my worst moments I can go on a short 3 mile run and instantly feel better. I never imagined that I would feel that way but there’s just something about being out on the trails and pushing your body in a new way that can make you wanna scream out in pure joy. That is something I am extremely grateful for today. What are you grateful for?” PC: @melissapozniak

  • It’s been 10 days without this buddy, and I’m a little embarrassed to say how much I miss him. Ollie’s away at @flashdogtraining, learning all these cool things like off-leash recall, comfort around other dogs, and even that it’s okay to do nothing (hard to imagine when your dog still follows you into the bathroom..) And while it feels impossible to be apart for a few more weeks, I’m so excited for a balanced training that brings more confidence, safety, and freedom into our lives. If you you have a pup near Colorado or Oregon, check Kerry and @flashdogtraining out. They’re doing some pretty life-changing things over there! 🖤

This is a gorgeous hike and somewhat easy to reach a waterfall at the top, the same waterfall that drops down into lake Louise. If you happen to find yourself at the @fairmontcll then just follow the one trail properly labeled and follow it up the mountain for even more spectacular views, it’s about 2 hours up and back. You won’t regret your decision.

⁣
Most people don’t. Most people think about how to get through the next 24 hours onto the next. They don’t 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘦 give themselves the freedom to dream, because the chance of failure was too great😒.
⁣
Straight up, when I started my online coaching business almost 3 years ago, 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒👆 is what I dreamed of. Travel. Surfing. Good food. Amazing experiences. Seeing new places. Today I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity I took almost 3 years ago when I found wellness coaching. Because it gave me the space to dream BIG again and a platform to help others and earn income remotely✨.
⁣
No, we don’t have freedom of money (𝘺𝘦𝘵), but we have 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄, which I discovered is more precious than gold. And I’m absolutely obsessed with the life we are building together. I literally cried today because this is what I imagined my life would be like when I was growing up; traveling with my husband, building a business I’m passionate about, and sharing it with others😭🌈.⁣

I still have a full week left of travel, but I’m so fired up from today I’m opening applications for the first time ever for my ⚡️End Of The Decade Wellness Coaching Mentorship Program⚡️. This mastermind group won’t only get you ready for the new year physically, we’re going to literally map out the entire next year, set goals (𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 & 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭), and lay out a blueprint to 𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐘 them. ⁣
⁣
If you’re tired of watching, and ready to start building the life & business you’ve been wanting, stop waiting. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥. The life you want is out there waiting for you✨⁣

  • 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 & 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞? Have you ever honestly thought about that?⁣ If you have, share 1 dream travel destination below ✈️👇.

Most people don’t. Most people think about how to get through the next 24 hours onto the next. They don’t 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘦 give themselves the freedom to dream, because the chance of failure was too great😒.

  • My ankle is still not 100% and it’s been hard. I don’t really like who I am without running, I don’t sleep and I don’t eat as well as I should. I read the @trailrunnermag article this week about running not being therapy and maybe it’s not, but it’s always been my accountability. The run was my reward for doing other things well, maybe it’s not healthy, but it works. The problem is when the ability to run is taken away. I’m hoping to get in something today, but we’ll see how it goes 🤷‍♀️ still swollen and still achy. 📷 @notindistress_
