  • That little bark on the right belonged to the #persimmon tree I planted. The bigger bark appears to have grown from the root and has surpassed the original by multitudes. I was digging with the intention of removing what I thought was an unwanted plant when I discovered they were the same. Leaves were similar but not identical, but close enough for me to let it have gotten this large. Glad I didn't just chop it down.

  • This is definitely a throwback. Cleaning up my #hornedmelon trellis and this reminder emerges. They did very well. Too bad I don't like them enough for a season two. Series cancelled. New stars coming next season.

  • Because some of these bulbs are so expensive I decided to buy regular items from my local Farmers market and experiment. I got edible taro bulbs for elephant ears and a mixture of onions, garlic, and shallots for alium flowers. Planting them now for a spring blooming and worse case scenario is I get some edible perennials. Can't wait to see! :) PS the taro was accidentally uprooted, but I see it has formed roots.

  • Fifth bed done. Filling ditches with leaves and wood chips. The Georgia clay is meeting it's modified neighbor up top. A mixture of compost, native soil and different organic mixes. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • SO I REPOTTED MY ALOE PLANT...SO WE ARE FIRM BELIEVERS IN UPCYCLING...SO INSTEAD OF ME BUYING A POT (OFF SEASON) FOR TOO MUCH ...I HAD A STYROFOAM COOLER SITTING AROUND SO I DECIDED TO USE IT...
1. I TOOK IT OUT OF THE POT
2. OLD POT WAS AROUND 6IN.
3. SINCE IT DOESN'T HAVE HOLES FOR WATER TO LEAVE...I PUT ABOUT 2IN OF ROCKS ($1 EACH FROM DOLLAR TREE) SO THE ROOTS WON'T ROT
4. EXPERIMENTING WITH A NEW BASIC POTTING SOIL
5. THE FINAL PRODUCT...HOPEFULLY ILL BE REPOTTING IT IN THE SPRING TO A 20IN POT!!! .

  • Lots of the Georgia aster blooms are still going strong, but the earliest ones have started to go to seed in the cutest, puffiest way 😍 any other #atlantagardener folks want some seeds? I’m happy to save and swap! #zone7b #zone7a #zone7gardening

  • Getting used to the #broadfork with doing these short rows. Then I lucked up on some #woodchips when I saw a tree service cutting trees close by. Yeah me!! :)

  • Using my broadfork to relocate fruit trees. It made quick work of digging them up, then did equally well in moving them to their new home in backyard. #broadfork #plumtree #peartree

  • Trying mashed sweet potato for the first time. Yes those are #purplesweetpotatoes or #hawaiiansweetpotatoes. Besides salt I'm not adding anything such as butter, cream, eggs or mustard etc. Hopefully it remains edible, at least to me.

  • Took me 4 hours to plant 500 bulbs and maybe 5 months to see results. I got all those #tulip bulbs for less than $100 from #tulipworld.com. After placing all in cart I sent them an offer and accepted their counteroffer. Not a bad deal at all.

  • How have I never heard of this tool? Makes digging a breeze. Uses body weight more than knees. I have got to get one. My neighbor has allowed me to use it. What's it called?
