As I increase my mindfulness practice I am able to remove myself from the burden of being trapped in the “thinking mind” more and more often.
Isn’t it sad how us humans can spend most or all of our lives trying to silence that thinking mind because it is unhappy with everything? So we need to make it happy and then it will FINALLY shut up! .....right.......? Our entire existence, in fact, revolves around making that thinking mind happy! But wait... have you noticed that once it is satisfied with one thing then it moves on to search for another thing that it is not satisfied with? Another thing that is “not fair” or “not the way I want/like it” or “this would be better if...”?
For example... how long does it stay quiet and happy when you FINALLY get to Friday after work”.... well, at the absolute longest, two days until it hits Monday. But odds are on the way home from work it was displeased about the traffic because you just want to get home. 😂. So.. it was satisfied for a total of 3 minutes... if you’re lucky.
Well friends. I’ve learned that there is a life outside that little voice in our heads telling us “it’s too cold out” or “just make it 2 more days until the weekend” or “I am happy or mad” or “there’s too much traffic”.
This life if happening all around us, but we are too focused on that “thinking” mind (AKA what we often think of as “me”) to notice. While we spend our whole lives trying to make that thinking mind happy (or make “ourselves” happy is how most of us see it), we miss the entire point. The peace lies outside that little voice in our brains. Nothing we ever do or say will ever make it stay at peace (or shut it up permanently). Does anyone understand what I am talking about?
Also, if this sparks your interest but you do not quite understand, please message me and ask questions.
And no I’m not in Banff right now.... I wish.
Happy Saturday! #yogainnature#yogaincanada#banffnationalpark#crowpose#namasteinnature#iwanttogoback #mirrorlake
The weather that morning, as you can see, was cloudy and even a bit rainy. But it was totally worthy. It made the sapphire blue lake way more conspicuous and glamorous. The surface of the lake was a magic mirror, when it was reflecting the scenery over it, in the meantime it as though was also correcting the two worlds. The surrounding clouds and mist created a mysterious yet magnificent ambience. Walking in the quiet woods, some sounds of nature like the purls of streams, the song of the birds would suddenly popped out, and it made one’s minds peaceful than ever. In my opinion, it transcends Lake Louise in many other ways.

One of six glaciers which cascade down from the Columbia Icefeild - a 230 sq km, 300m deep plateau of ice spanning Banff and Jasper National Parks. After crossing the moraine of shattered rock and debris at the base you hop on monster truck style coaches which take you onto the toe of the glacier itself. You are then allowed to walk within is a small roped off area which has been checked for crevasses. #mindboggled
