  • So good to be back in Thailand — here is a photo from last year I never got to post — life got so busy and I got so burned out this past year I wanted to feel places and feel things without trying to share it with everyone right away.

I’m so glad I took that break and relearned to enjoy most beautiful sunsets without having the need to capture them and share them.

  • We live in a generation that is highly skilled  at allowing connections to fade away. Because of social media and cell phones we think people are replaceable, and that's silly. We cannot replace the energy of someone who is genuine especially when they are putting consistent effort out. Appreciate them, cherish them and respect their time. Also dont compare your life to others on social media, it is not real - people only post the best moments of their life. Appreciate the life you live, because there are a lot of people that are worse off. ---

  • Sometimes we behave as though silliness and play is wrong.

It even begins to feel awkward as we grow into adults, right? In my pediatric clinical practice, I often noticed parents struggling to play with their own children. In my coaching and consulting work, I notice the stoic seriousness that permeates corporate culture in the name of being “professional”. In the rush of life and taxes, work and traffic, we’ve forgotten how to simply let go and be free. To some level, every one of us loses that ability to be vulnerable, to be unapologetically silly, to dance. But we KNOW it’s good for our health. Our research at @w3rkwell suggests as much. So, on this cozy Sunday, build some play into your day. It’s self-care. It’s self-love. It’s free☺️.

  • A short story:  The other day I went to a department store to make a return. Once inside, I saw there were 2 lines. One with several cashiers ringing both sales and returns—the other with 1 cashier designated solely for returns. Both lines were long. I took my place in the line for returns. •—• A few minutes in, the woman behind me started complaining. Since I don’t engage in negativity, I let her grumble at the back of my head as I inserted my earbuds and continued listening to a podcast I’d started on the drive over (shout out to @othersideguides ) •—• Within seconds, the complainer found an audience when 4 women in front of me joined into the negative chorus and began yelling at the cashier for not suggesting they move to the other line that – in their estimation was moving quicker –and that the cashier couldn’t even see from her place at the register. •—• I looked on in amazement as the same women who’d been fine until the complainer piped up, latched onto her negative vibe and, like lemmings, followed her into an anger abyss. •—• It was like watching a virus spreading in real time. •—• One by one, they abandoned the line in a huff, until I was the one left standing at the front. •—• When it was my turn, I told the cashier she was doing a great job, that she wasn’t responsible for other people’s choices, and she’d handled a difficult situation in an admirable way. •—• On my way out, I couldn’t help but notice how all of those angry women were still fuming, and still waiting in the other line.•—• I know the holidays can trigger stress and anxiety, but the energy you allow into your space, is entirely yours to decide.•—• Long lines happen, it’s not the employee’s fault.•—• Flight attendants/pilots/and gate agents are not to blame for weather delays and mechanicals. •—•
Every time you point a finger in blame, there are three fingers pointing right back at you. •—• You can’t always control the circumstances you find yourself in, but how you react is entirely up to you. ••

  • ⁠Everything in life happens for a reason. We may not know the reason until we are gifted with hindsight. So we may have love and joy. We may have hardship and pain. Some of us may be going through anguish and suffering. At times they are unavoidable, even though it would be more convenient to not experience these events and emotions. However remembering that life and this incarnation is a gift from our higher selves, all situations we find ourselves in are guided. They're showing us through signs and subtle nudges towards the path of our growth.⁠⠀

⁠I remember the time when I did my final hard purge as I agreed to take on the calling to be an energy healer. I experienced the worst asthma attack midnight on a Sunday the day before my daughter's birthday. My husband had to run me to emergency. I can still remember my body was in revolt. I couldn't breathe. While I was hooked up to a respirator for a week in hospital, my fam ⁠had to don sterile garments to visit me, because the doctors didn't want me contracting anything that could aggravate the asthma further...I was revelling in the experience. Understanding dawned on me on how amazing it was to be able to feel the anxiety, the worry, the discomfort and the aches of the body while still loving it. Loving and appreciating the spectrum of experience while on the physical plane is a gift, gorgeous ones. I started laughing like a loon in that hospital room and feeling the joy of being alive. I was bathing in deep appreciation of my body, of the world, of the Universe. Because it is only while in the body that we can perceive all of these sensations-sadness, joy, anger, hate, happiness, excitement. We don't get that as souls without a body. This life is but a blip in the eternity of lifetimes of existence. One nanosecond out of the infinite. There's not a moment to waste. Whatever arises, whatever your experience, love that. With all your heart, dear ones. *hugs*⁠⠀

  • A seemingly icy exterior...but there’s always more going on beneath the surface than you know. Take a moment and make the space to observe the waters flowing within. Within you, within others, within a given situation. When we cast judgement, take actions based on assumptions, avoid slippery situations, or simply don’t pay attention to what’s around us, we miss the opportunity to learn, to grow, to connect, and to heal.

This recovery time has helped me focus on my journey, to better understand there is no finish line, nor is there any expectation. And that it doesn’t matter if these miles are walked at 3.4 miles per hour, or ran clocking 7 minute miles. The victory is that I’m moving, & most days moving forward. 🏃‍♀️⁣

Sometimes I forget that everyone’s journey has hills & setbacks & weak moments, & sometimes we set our expectations a bit too lofty & fall victim to an expectation hangover. But I’m trying SO dang hard to stay in the moment & just do me... whatever that is on any given day. 🤷‍♀️ ⁣

One more week of walking (hopefully) pending a positive check-up Friday & I am beyond giddy to lift heavy things again soon & run a bit. 🤗⁣

  • In the past, I fell on the cycle of lack often. By drifting into not-so-good-feeling thoughts. When I'm drifting and  wishing for something I don't have, that's the sign that I am no longer in the present moment. ⁠
.⁠ If I'm thinking "I wish I had", "I will never get that", "nobody has that", for a few minutes, let alone hours, physiologically these "innocent" thoughts will fire my fight or flight, causing a stress response in my body, affecting all of my systems (my muscles, blood pressure, immune system etc). Energetically these thoughts would make me feel dissatisfied, disappointed, pessimistic, overwhelmed and they'd lower my vibration, my point of attraction. ⁠
.⁠
If I let myself go down the spiral, by the law of attraction I will just keep finding things I lack. (Love, money, a career, friends, anything goes.) ⁠
.⁠
Once you have physical proof you lack all of those things, (and you will get it, if you think about it long enough) now is almost inevitable not to focus on the lack, because it's right in front of your eyes. You attracted proof and now you cant stop thinking about it. The cycle of lack is well underway. ⁠
.⁠
That's why being present is so important because thinking about the past or future takes me away from appreciating what's in front of me. ⁠
.⁠
I still find myself looking for what I don't have, rather than focusing on what I do have. That habit is still a part of me. The difference is that I catch myself doing it now. Sometimes right in the moment, other times minutes or hours late but I catch myself eventually. I no longer dwell on what I don't have for too long.⁠

Whatever you do today, be present. Be fully in your body and your soul. Let your mind take a break.⁠

    .⁠ If I'm thinking "I wish I had", "I will never get that", "nobody has that", for a few minutes, let alone hours, physiologically these "innocent" thoughts will fire my fight or flight, causing a stress response in my body, affecting all of my systems (my muscles, blood pressure, immune system etc). Energetically these thoughts would make me feel dissatisfied, disappointed, pessimistic, overwhelmed and they'd lower my vibration, my point of attraction. ⁠
    .⁠
    If I let myself go down the spiral, by the law of attraction I will just keep finding things I lack. (Love, money, a career, friends, anything goes.) ⁠
    .⁠
    Once you have physical proof you lack all of those things, (and you will get it, if you think about it long enough) now is almost inevitable not to focus on the lack, because it's right in front of your eyes. You attracted proof and now you cant stop thinking about it. The cycle of lack is well underway. ⁠
    .⁠
    That's why being present is so important because thinking about the past or future takes me away from appreciating what's in front of me. ⁠
    .⁠
    I still find myself looking for what I don't have, rather than focusing on what I do have. That habit is still a part of me. The difference is that I catch myself doing it now. Sometimes right in the moment, other times minutes or hours late but I catch myself eventually. I no longer dwell on what I don't have for too long.⁠
    .⁠
    Whatever you do today, be present. Be fully in your body and your soul. Let your mind take a break.⁠

  • This morning’s workout was a mix of martial art movements. I was motivated to fight for my workout as this weekend has been emotional for me. I am just about in tears each time I’ve seen Hayden and the @mohlerdanceacademy and @chicago.ballet.conservatory put on this beautiful show. One of Hayden’s friend’s grandmother said it was just as amazing as the one in downtown Chicago. As a parent, it made me so proud of each one of these students who worked their butts off to make this special. So I fought through to continue this morning’s workout so I can continue to be present to see all of Hayden’s accomplishments. After all, our kids do want to make us proud and have us present for it just as much as we want them to live their best life. #nutcrackerseason #nutcrackerballet #dancemom #mohlerdancemom #ilovemydaughter #bepresent #beintentional #iamaparent
