  • Hey, Im Issy Cole.
I’m a tattoo artist, a degu and cat mum, a lazy yogi, body positive, body negative, an artist, environmentally conscious, a green tea drinker, a crystal and plant collector, a friend, a daughter and a wife. I ramble randomly about things that you may think don’t matter, I over think everything, I compliment a lot, I recycle and think you should too. I’ll more than likely wanna be your friend, I’m compassionate and incredibly empathetic. I find people interesting and I wanna know about you. It’s nice to meet you 🖤 who are you?
I would really love to start a series of posts where you can focus on what you like doing, what you collect, and bold parts of your personality, be them good or negative. Share who you are, even if it’s about your favourite jumper. Let’s learn a bit more about each other rather than focusing on our glamorous selfies. If you fancy it, #Showyourself 🖤
This may not work at all, but I’d rather try.

  • August 15. Indian Independence Day. To put together this piece, I started to think about what Indian Independence Day means to me. Yes, I’m Indian, but I was born n raised in America. I usually think in Hindi but speak in English. I’m an engineer by degree but a practicing artist. I’m a Texan in California. All these things made me wonder, who am I even? Truth be told, these are all facts of my life, but above them all I’m a human being who continues to evolve with every new experience on my own journey. So then what does Indian Independence Day mean to me? It’s a celebration of a sense a belonging, a pride in where we are from, a feeling that most of us have for our home no matter where home is. It is that feeling which makes us human, not borders. Thank you @shugd & South @asianafshow for giving me the opportunity to share this alongside some amazing artists in the industry. It was an honor and a blessing 🙏🏼 And shoutout to my dancers @meghnac3 @sanyalvansh @natbhogal for allowing me to bring this vision to life! •

Το ρέκβιεμ του Μότσαρτ συναντά τον αφρικάνικο ρυθμό, την όπερα και τη τζαζ σε μια μουσικοχορευτική εμπειρία που θα θυμάσαι για καιρό. Τo καλλιτεχνικό διδύμο των Alain Platel και Fabrizio Cassol και η βελγική χορευτική κολεκτίβα των les ballets C de la B επιστρέφουν στη Στέγη με το Requiem pour L. για να σπάσουν τα στεγανά. Δεκατέσσερις μουσικοί από την Ευρώπη και την Αφρική, μια πολυφωνική παράσταση-γιορτή για τον άνθρωπο, ανεξαρτήτως φυλής και χρώματος. Εσύ θα λείπεις;

  • Through my life I have been lucky enough to meet some INCREDIBLE women who inspire me every day 💫
.
The greatest gift you can ever offer is your knowledge 🎁🤓 My mission in life is to share all that I know, to empower young women so they know their worth, love all that they are, and are further empowered through knowledge of training + nutrition. Ultimately giving them a sense of FREEDOM 🕊 free to truly be all that they are. I hope to then create a ripple effect 💧 to be passed on to the young males and females alike
.
I am surrounded by amazing young females every day. My incredible and supportive family who are my absolute world 🌍 Friends that I've been fortunate enough to meet through social media + my competing career 💗 My beautiful and inspiring friends that I am so lucky to have in my life. And of course my clients that I very quickly have considered friends + allies 💞 I feel blessed every day.
.
Let's celebrate humanity 👫👬👭 we've come such a long way, yes there's definitely work to do but to all the amazing humans I know, I appreciate you ❤

  • Happy Birthday Humanity?

Even now, seventy years on, the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the @unitednations can be described as a bold step for the world. And for a document of such magnitude, it’s surprisingly succinct. It can be read it in its entirety in a matter of minutes. At eight pages of double-spaced large-typed words, it’s probably the shortest declaration the UN has ever produced.

And it’s bold because there was, and is, no government in existence that can guarantee, to anyone, all the rights the declaration states.

And it’s short because there was, and is, no exception. There are no extra clauses. No small print. No footnotes. No exclusivity. In fact, it’s repetitively inclusive. It speaks of everyone, of all human beings, all the time.

But without governmental guarantee the UDHR only survives thanks to all of us. All of us carrying out our every day lives, looking out for each other, living, and standing up for, our founding values.

So although today may not actually be humanity’s birth-day, it is the day all of us began to hold governments and national consciences to account. It is the day all of us agreed: ‘All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights’
Article 1 - UDHR. And that, we think, is worth celebrating. 🖋 @quite.simply.claire 🖌 @pinterest

  • I read about this woman today. Her heroine prowess happened in 1986 , when I was only 4 days old) but what she did , changed the lives of the 379 passengers on board Pan Am 73. Her story is one of true courage!
Her name was Neerja Bhanot 🕊

Stop trying to conform to what the world or others prescribe for you. Identify your individual traits and do what what you can with them as long as it adds value to society. The world will adjust and reward you for that.

  • We are busy of proudly stating about our ethnicity but we failed to show our humanity.
We magnify our ethnic mentality but dehumanizing others. We have so many demarcation to separate human with ethnic groups but no effort to experience differences. We love our ethnicity but hate a human being. We are called to be a Human but fail to proof that.
This week,
Let’s celebrate Humanity not Ethnicity. Show Humanity. Share Humanity. Magnify Humanity. #Humanity #WeekChallenge #InspireEmpowerTransform #CelebrateHumanity @safelightofficial

  • Meet my friend, Abderraouf. He and his beautiful wife and three daughters were on vacation in Istanbul from their home in Algeria. We commiserated over both our countries political environment. We bonded over the love of our children. We have many differences my friend and I, but they are surface differences. Our similarities ring much stronger. We are fathers & husbands who worry and love our families. In this picture we are laughing and gesturing about how we both have Indian blood, me American Indian, and he Algerian. “ I am not Arab, I am native Algerian”. I am thankful I am able to travel, it shows me how similar all humans are. May Allah look after you and your family Abderraouf.

  • •The festival of lights
Diwali
A festival which used to excite me as kid, to jump at my sister trying to wake her up at 4 a.m, just so that we could light up a few crackers. My innocent younger self never understood the fact that, fireworks would turn into such a disaster for the future.
As the years passed, I learnt a new thing about this festival every single year.
It wasn't just a festival where we burst crackers, ate sweets and the full fledged meals that filled our hungry bellies, but it was a festival of celebrating ancient history and hearing stories of Lord Rama.
Then came the phase that every teenager goes through, the transition of wanting to burst crackers to hating crackers as a whole.
It was quite an easy thing to do for me as I never enjoyed the smoke coming out of all these fireworks but I only burst them because of the beautiful lights that they gave out in different forms.
I always had a lot of people telling me through this phase that crackers were made by children of my age and had to live with burnt hands for the rest of their life.
It made me sad to know the bitter truth which made it harder to accept the fact.
In the end, I finally learnt the value of this festival is to learn new things every year.
This used to be just a festival like no other when I was a kid but now I realise as I see different people, some excited about the festival and some not bothered at all.
So this Diwali, let's make a step towards our environment and avoid crackers to save young children from being scarred for life. Instead let's go to orphanages and celebrate with the people spreading the love because in the end Diwali is way more bigger than ourselves.•

  • Do we celebrate being human?⁣⁣⁣
⁣
⁣⁣⁣
We have Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Lover’s Day…⁣⁣⁣
⁣
⁣⁣⁣
But is there a day to celebrate being a human? Human’s Day?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣
⁣⁣I think we should have one☺⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because it’s such a courageous choice to spend a lifetime in this human body😊!⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
With all its challenges, insecurities, fears and shames…with all its complex relationships…with all its searching for the meaning…with all its breakups and breakdowns…with all its dark moments.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
…but at the same time with all its dreams, aspirations, pleasures, joy, bliss, ecstasy, passionate love and moments when you feel like you have touched the Heavens…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I want to celebrate your choice of being in this human body!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
Of you showing up every single day no matter what is present in your life!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I see your aspirations, your never-ending desire to make your life experience a beautiful one! ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And it’s not always easy!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
It’s not easy to reliving patterns and not knowing when your breakthrough will come…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
It’s not easy to keep on choosing painful choices because you have ignored your inner guidance one more time…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
It’s not easy to watch life escaping you at times…to be in the space between where you are right now and where you know you can be…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
It’s not easy to keep on revisiting those parts of self you hoped you have healed…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
It’s not easy to lean into trust and faith when life feels paralyzing at times…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
It’s not easy to keep on leaning into love when your heart wants to close under the hurt you have been conditioned to experience…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I want to remind you that you are doing so great! ⁣⁣⁣
⁣
⁣Be proud of yourself! ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
Keep on leaning into your truth and nourishing an intimate relationship with your soul!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It is such a badass choice to be in this human body with all its ups and downs!⁣⁣⁣
⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I honor your choice!⁣⁣
⁣
⁣
🙏❤️❤️❤️⁣

  • “Beauty has no meaning without your health.” - Yolanda Hadid
.
Why are we erasing our happiest moments and our saddest times, when they should be celebrated? Your expression lines are all your own- they tell a beautiful story that no one else in the world has.
Please stop putting your health at risk, and be injection free. 🧡✨ Photo credit- Andre Moura

  • I adore this shot of this young woman on her father's shoulders celebrating Malta Pride in costume waving a rainbow flag while watching the floats pass by. I captured it on my film camera, but just in case I also captured it on my phone. Proof that hatred and prejudice is learnt from our environment, not innate. Spread love. Be kind to one another.

  • God created man, and man created religion. The common base of all religion is love, acceptance, and celebration — celebration of life, celebration of diversity, and celebration of equality!
.
.
We all bleed red and have the same composition from inside. No X-ray can identify the religion of a person, but it can detect the cracks and tumors inside of us!
.
.
Let’s fill all of these cracks with love, acceptance, and celebration. Let’s get rid of the tumors that we have let grow inside of us from using our brains to form so many biases and preconceived notions towards one another. Let’s get out of that black & white world and dance on the common ground of our hearts. Let’s get out of that coma, where our brains alone drive us and we live like walking dead. Let’s celebrate each other with our hearts. Let’s celebrate the creation of the Almighty. That’s what all the messengers of the Almighty wanted.
.
.
Even within my own family, my two siblings and I are very different people, often leading to very different opinions, but that’s the beauty of creation. At the end of the day, we rise above as a family to put our differences aside, as majority of the time the disagreements arise from our brains, not our hearts. Our stamp of love for each other always ends our disagreements. We as a people need to use more heart and less brain when it comes to family.
.
.
This whole world is one big family. We live in a beautiful time where we have been closer and more interconnected than ever. We are so fortunate in this country to have an opportunity to see, meet, and understand people from all parts of the world every single day. What a daily Divine Festival our country and the world is today!!!!
.
.
Let’s work more from our hearts than from our brains! Let’s love each other! And let’s celebrate each other! ❤️
