And so I'm off (for now)! ✈️🇧🇷☀️
Right on my way to sunny Brazil, I'm leaving the colder temperatures, work and stress at home behind and say

Something about snow falling just makes me want to fire up the blender and whip up tropical cocktails! 🌴
This one is a variation on the Honolulu, using hibiscus syrup, which is one of those things I always have in the fridge. Is there a homemade ingredient that you always keep on hand? 🌺
H o n o l u l u # 2
1.5 oz white rum
1 oz pineapple juice
.5 oz lemon juice
.25 oz hibiscus syrup
.25 oz pomegranate liqueur
Blend all ingredients with a scoop of crushed ice. Pour into a large cocktail glass and garnish with a pineapple frond.
I popped into Mirabelle on my night off for some dinner and study time, and ended up treating myself to some bottled California history. This “Lot 4” Cabernet Sauvignon from Liberty School is a blend of multiple vintages from the mid 1970’s. Liberty School was born in 1976, a second label of the famous Caymus Vineyards in Napa Valley. In the 1990’s Liberty School was sold to Hope Family Wines in Paso Robles, where it is still produced today. I’ve been lucky enough to taste several bottles of this “Lot 4,” and although the fruit in this particular one was a little dried out it was still very lovely. Lots of spicy, dried tomato leaf, sweet, dried tobacco, and leather along with coffee, dark chocolate, and black pepper. This bottle was probably a knockout 5- 10 years ago, but is still a beautiful experience to drink right now!
Today marks the official Anniversary of @thegoalorg! I started this organization back in Washington D.C with the hopes that we can cultivate more diverse advocacy leaders of color, and I am proud to say today that have delivered 3 major Diversity in Advocacy Trainings and raised over $15,000 in a years time! Next year, our GOAL is to host three trainings in 3 different cities! I look forward to continuing to build this organization so that public policy and advocacy actually reflect our nation! Thank you as always to @ana_littlesana who is indispensable to this organization. #Cheers#DiversityinAdvocacy#GOAL#Chicago

One of the best things about living on our ranch is how alive our soul feels in the early hours of the morning before we start our work day 🌾 All is quiet except for the occasional team of Canadian geese that fly overhead and the hum of the grasses as a fall breeze gently combs through. There’s a certain magic that stirs as the oak trees begin to rustle and creak and the wild turkeys begin their morning jaunt through the vineyards 🌳 Good Morning, everyone! We hope you take a moment each day to notice what stirs your soul 🌞
What am I surviving this holiday season? If you’ve been following my stories, than you already know. CBD mocktails! Every host or hostess should know the secrets to crafting the perfect festive infused drink for your guests. When it comes to CBD, it’s all about integrating the cannabidiol into your beverage seamlessly. By crafting your own infusions at home such as infused CBD simple syrup, you can easily mix cannabinoids into your drinks without leaving behind residue that can float to the top if you’re using a pre-made CBD oil. For best results, use CBD-rich flower to make an infusion or use an alcohol-based tincture to enhance your beverages. If you must use CBD oil, here’s a tip from the pros. Use a shaker tin to vigorously mix the CBD with your other ingredients so it keeps it from separating out too quickly.
If you love crafting cannabis-infused drinks, please share some of your other tips and tricks below! 😉👌🍹
