I’m not going to pretend I wasn’t nervous for this trip to Mexico. I’m just as susceptible to the horror stories about rampant drug and gun violence that we hear in the US media as the next person. Plus, I’ve been here a handful of times before, and almost every time I’ve either had something stolen or gotten deathly ill from the food. One time I even had my backpack sliced open from in between my feet on a bus. Everything valuable from my wallet to my camera were taken. I still don’t know how they managed that one... 🤦🏻♀️ But that’s one of the main reasons I travel - whether it’s across the world or to the next state over. To push outside my comfort zone and challenge my perceptions about a destination and the people that call that place home. And it’s why I’ll continue coming back to Mexico. Because despite a couple unfortunate mishaps, I’ve found it to be a beautiful country, full of kind people, stunning landscapes, and an endless sense of adventure.
Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child, before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind. The real you is loving, joyful, and free. The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun
Deeeeep deeeeep deeeep down there’s a real you. Not the you that your coworkers see, or your friends see or your families see. But a you that only you know. A you that is still young, playful, and carefree. A you that knows yourself, and doesn’t second guess yourself. A real you that doesn’t care what others have to say, a real you that is FREE. -
In other news I took a day off today, and I never take a day off. But with wrecking my car, having finals, working like 272627 jobs I had no time to get anything done that I needed to do to actually benefit my life. So I took the day off, because we all need to rest. So today I’m resting, and I’m doing the 10 million things I’ve had to put off for the past two weeks.
This lady was a true power house who through a combination of having lots of kids and marrying said kids of to Europe's royalty tried to secure the Habsburg reach of power to extend further than before. It didn't stop the fact that the family was seriously inbred and marrying in doesn't stop squabbling.
