  • Happy Monday! Here is a quick video of me updating my expense log. Then at the end of the month I can look back and see exactly where I spent my money. This really helps me stay on track, holds me accountable + prevents me on over spending in certain categories [food + allowance!] what category do you usually over spend on? | expense log template from @sweetpapertrail |

  • Have I told you lately how much I hate doing drills? I never really did them when I started lettering, just dived right in with whole words... and I’ve never really loved them since.

If they’re your jam, by all means, do all the drills (I even have worksheets to help you... #linkinbio 😄). But if they’re not. Don’t do them!

Do what feels good, because if you’re enjoying the process, you’ll practice more, and that’s what really matters.

For example.... turn on the assisted drawing guide in Procreate - Tap the spanner/setting icon, select canvas, turn on the drawing guide, then edit drawing guide. Select Symmetry, Radial, and make sure assisted drawing and rotational symmetry are both on.

Then grab a pressure sensitive brush (like LL Glide, which is included in Clarity membership) and practice shapes and varying the pressure and have funnnnn. (This was made in a beta version of Procreate 5 where there are some extra brush settings that create the changing colours.) Also good for when you need something to focus and calm you 😉.

  • Another digital painting for you today. I’ve been playing around with the clipping mask lately, it’s what allows you to color only inside the circle, and if you layer watercolor paper underneath, it looks so real and adds a pretty texture to the blend. Brushes used are from @ipadlettering’s watercolor pack. 🖌 Program used is @procreate for the iPad Pro.

  • Bills are all covered for the month! Best feeling ever
So my next two checks will go heavily towards SAVINGS! I love seeing my bills at a monthly glance + I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have it all written down! Thanks to @thebudgetmom and her #budgetbypaycheckworkbook - I'm always ahead of my bills!

do you think ipad serve as a distraction for youth? apple tries to prove otherwise:
{ The ad focuses on a family that travels across the country to visit the mother’s father. Like many families, the parents hand them an iPad when their daughters start to fight…

When they arrive at the grandfather’s house, we realize that the grandfather’s wife recently passed away. Both the grandfather and the mother are still mourning.

While their parents tell the kids to watch something on the iPad, they end up using the iPad to build a touching slideshow using old family photos. }

  • Between @MorganHarperNichols and @brenebrown these ladies have given me all the feels this week.
.
I love New Years, the fresh start of a calendar. A new word. As we approach the end of 2019, I’m trying to determine what works and what doesn’t. This year was built on a whole lot of hustling. I’m fueled by tasks and to-do lists. But, I’ve unfortunately started defining myself by the hustle. The success of the weekend is determined by how much of my list is highlighted. The only time I stop creating is when my physical body shuts down and lately that’s more often than I’d like to admit. .
Having said these things... what do you think my word should be for 2020? Rest? Intention? Focus? Balance? Play? I’d love your input.

  • This is not a cute staged photo, but it's a real-time shot of a #lovedonelettering project that's about to get shipped! ✍🏼 This one had some profound thoughts in it and I was honored to make it for a sweet family in Illinois!
