Did you spy this new release on our November Favorites Shelf? It is such a lovely tribute to all that we have to be grateful for and it even includes a recipe for Apple cake at the end. I am itching to bake the cake and we have already enjoyed re-reading the book multiple times. A new seasonal favorite for sure! For a peek inside check out my Stories.
ENG ▶️ This one illustration is a new piece that I created not as a commission, but for myself. Best of my artworks are not orders actually but art that reflects my feelings and thoughts 💙⠀

The automatic doors creaked open to a reveal a torrential downpour.
I had three kids and a baby plus a cart filled with groceries and absolutely NO umbrella.
I just stood there. Frozen. Staring out into the parking lot abyss, fighting back tears. As if two hours with four kids in a grocery store wasn’t enough challenge for one day.
Then a man ran up from amongst the cars through the sheets of rain...with an umbrella.
He said his wife saw me and sent him to help. I can’t remember if I cried that day, but I’m tearing up now remembering that moment.
What’s your story?
I want to share this precious collection of poems with you.. “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: The Poetry”. I grew up with Mr. Rogers - and it’s an honor to share him now with my littles ❤️ #ad@fredrogersproductions@quirkbooks
Through songs, puppets, and honest conversations, Mister Rogers helped instill the values of kindness, patience, self-awareness, and self-esteem in his young viewers. But most of all, he taught children that they are loved, just by being who they are.
It’s World Kindness Day today - let’s remember the moments when someone’s kindness carried us when we could go no further.
And let’s spread kindness today - tag a friend in the comments and tell them something that makes them special to you! I tag @3littlelambshomestead - Ashley you are forgiving and giving to fault. I admire you and am so thankful to call you a friend! ❤️ #Worldkindnessday#itsabeautifuldayintheneighborhood

Daisy and Hazel are spending the Christmas holidays in Cambridge with Alexander (who they met on the Orient Express) and his friend George and Daisy’s older brother Bertie, who is a first year history student. However, will mystery and murder follow the girls around again?
When ‘accidents’ keep on happening to Bertie’s friends (who are twins, orphaned and the eldest about to receive the family fortune) the Detective Society (and the boys) investigate! The case progresses when one of the twins, nicknamed Chummy, is found dead after tripping on wire at the top of the stairs. A few days later, the other twin is found dead as well; the children deduce it to be cyanide poisoning... In my opinion, this book was the best of the series yet because I love the characters and their relationships with each other. As with all the books in this series so far, the murderer was the person you least expected. In this book, the children had found no strong motive for the suspect until near the end of the book. A phenomenal read!

HENRY AND BEA by @jessixabagley is a beautiful story with equally beautiful (I mean it’s really really gorgeous) art. This picture book is about a pair of best friends, a shift, a wait, a revelation, and a heartfelt understanding. Also, cookie-sharing.
“Time to help!” thinks Stephen Sprout. ” I know a way to sort this out…” Love them or hate them, sprouts are an essential part of Christmas, and the sprout in this book is extra special. Stephen is a sprout of kindness!
Whenever he sees a child in distress, Stephen knows just what to do. He helps a lost girl find her friend. He makes sure everyone gets a turn on the swings. He helps people understand how to share. He even gently helps someone overcome their fear of the water. Stephen spreads kindness wherever he goes and his friendly enthusiasm is infectious.
We love this gorgeous little board book and it’s been requested repeatedly since it arrived. The rhyming text is super tight which makes it really fun to read aloud and the brightly-coloured illustrations have lots of lovely detail.
Stephen teaches children all about the power of kindness and there’s a lovely section at the back which suggests different ways you can be kind to the people around you.
Although packaged as a book for Christmas, this is definitely a story you can enjoy all year round!
Disclosure: The publisher provided us with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

For a while now I’ve wanted to refine & simplify my processes juuuuuust a little... I find myself getting carried away with things and that isn’t so bad for personal projects, but hard when there’s a lot on your plate and not a lot of time! Plus, I definitely have the ‘too much gene’ and often ruin things when I go at them for too long.
I feel like style development is finding something that makes you happy to create, feels natural & gets your message across. For example I can paint realistically, but this is what feels good to me!
I think I have to make more conscious decisions this coming year with the direction I want to take my work in. So I hope this can be the start of a happy medium between the rendering I do now, and what I want my work to look like.
Up until the last two years I created everything traditionally, which has helped me so much in continuing my processes while painting digitally 🎨 and today I collected lots of materials from nature to make #photoshop and #Procreate brushes out of. I hope to be using mostly my own brushes in 2020 & mixing media again to push my work a little further. 🍃❤️ Do you ever overdo things? 😅
This is a beautiful story about a boy who wishes for a friend and you can expect all the warm fuzzy feelings from this imaginative picture book showing what happens when we reach out. Lyrical text from @jacquelinecolley and lively illustration from @merrileesbrown, it’s a key gifting title for picture book lovers this Winter.

I’m always enamoured by the imagination of a child, it’s this sprinkle of fairy dust that has no limits. Part of me hopes that the superheroes and dreamers as kids get to live that out as adults.
For three years I’ve been promising to write my son a book to match the one I wrote for his sister. Finally, I’ve made good. Frank is a wodewose who has to save his forest from some evil trees helped only by a gang of bloody furious squirrels. It’s been a lovely counterpoint to the adult gothicky suspense I’ve been sweating over all year!
