I ran what felt good. Bottom line. I was in a friendly green zone the entire time. I didn’t feel winded once and I’m stoked! Definitely seeing improvement in my comfort over distance this week. We’ll see what next week brings!

  • ⭐ Training & family time ⭐ 
My 5yo snapped this picture this morning and I thought I'd share it. Why? For many of us, daily routine consists of sleep, work, family time, house chores and then some training. Even for me, sometimes training comes last after the kids are asleep - and by that time my body is getting ready to relax. Why not train in the living room while the kids are happily playing? They like to be included and they like to copy what they see (.. and yes, they can also be annoying and some days it's better to stay up late for a kidless-workout 😀)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Don't forget, strength work is absolutely beneficial for runners. It gives you better running economy and can serve as injury prevention. Win-win! 👌⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Having tense shoulders is bad for your running form - it prevents your arms moving freely and can result in wasted energy expenditure - but its easy to slip into bad practises without realizing. While sitting down with shoulders down, have a friend attach two stips of tape in a v-shape on your back, from the bottom of your shoulder blades to the centre of the spine. It shoudnt be super tight but there should be some tension in it. You should notice it on your run if you start to hunch or roll your shoulder, at which point remind yourself to relax or stop and stretch out.

  • “Ran a super challenging 33k trail race today. There was so much mud, steep elevation and technical terrain it was brutal but beautiful. Other than muscle cramps the last 5 miles (which are just par for the course for that type of climb) I was pain free!! At the end, my legs were such jello I just kept thinking “shoulders over hips and FALL” sometimes I even yelled it out loud (trail runners are weird 🤪). Honestly I had no muscular effort left in me so I had to fall and pull (or crawl!) to finish it and I did (not crawling!) 12th female finisher -super proud and grateful to Valerie Hunt (I took the online course in Sept and attended a clinic btw- highly recommend)” 👏Congratulations @willis300 on your run and placing💪 great to see you continue to enjoy the benefits of skill practice in your run✅ 🔹Clinics and 321Run Online: runrx.fit

  • DONE!! A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated in my "Nominate & Donate" Challenge! 
Today, with great moral support from my work out bud @henrymorris15, we have completed 30 sit ups, 40 squats, 40 push ups and 120 burpees!! Each!! This challenge raised £230 for @age_uk Woooo!!! This challenge was hard, but I had great support and family & friends who got involved. I'm raising money for a charity who help those who may not have that support.

  • Looks like it’s a 6k calorie eating day for me!!! @therock what is your go to pizza you smash when you need the calories? Talking to the gas station attendant this am and he said he wished he would get back to running and it must be tough being so disciplined.... well stop lying to yourself, you have time! I also was thinking most people when they take time off have such anxiety that they won’t be back to their peak right away that they just put it off. We all have reasons that we take a break from the grind, if you can’t enjoy the challenge of getting back to your peak I question how you got there in the first place. Just like if you need pre work out just to get to the gym I question your motives! Working out isnt for your looks it’s for your mental health, feel good, feel stress free, feel healthy! Going to hurt tomorrow but loved the grind! @asics #running #marathontraining #fitnessmotivation #fitforhealth #anxiety #teremana in my future #whoscookingdinner #needthosecalories #outworkedyou

  • When you think about the marathon and life, they both resemble one another. Both can be difficult at times. On the other hand, there can be moments where everything seems easy. The struggles in both sometimes don’t make sense, and maybe never will, but the experiences in life and in the marathon are more than just the finish line, it’s about the people you meet along the way the high fives, laughs and hugs you exchange. ⁣
⁣
Somewhere along the course of the marathon and in life there are people rooting for you. Those people allow us to enjoy the journey that much more. ⁣
⁣
This weekend is more than just another marathon, this weekend allows me to live another day and celebrate another moment in my life. 11 months ago to this day, something in the universe said it wasn’t my time to finish my story. Over the last 11 months I’ve been able to make new friends, share stories, high five other, hug and most importantly create more memories with the beautiful people around me.⁣

Tomorrow’s marathon marks my 3️⃣2️⃣nd overall (1️⃣2️⃣th CIM). Though the CIM course has been very kind of me being the course where I have run 2️⃣ Boston Qualifying times, tomorrow will be a different tactic, it will be a training run for a bigger race at the end of the month.⁣

For everyone running tomorrow, I hope the course is with you and you achieve your personal goals. ⁣

  • Since I was a kid I always dreamed of running a marathon. In February I completed my first half marathon at 45. My next goal is to complete a full marathon I will attempt this in late January. My first half I ran in a time of 2:16:20 today I ran this latest half in 2:02:42. It is never too late to make a change it is never too late too try and accomplish something you’ve always dreamed. At 46 I am living my dream. #marathontraining #livingadream #itsnevertoolate #dontquit #alwaysbelieve #perserverance

Valencia marathon was about remembering how to enjoy races ⠀
I’m a bit competitive 🙋🏼‍♀️(thanks Dad) and when I race I always end up  maxing out and wondering why races are so painful and unpleasant these days. They used to be fun I swear ⠀
⠀
So when I (drunkenly) agreed to sign up to Valencia marathon (6 weeks after Chicago) I saw the opportunity⠀
⠀
Valencia was about, looking up, high fiving kids, dancing to music, not wearing headphones, running with friends, smiling for race photos and enjoying a beautiful city ⠀
⠀
And because I can’t do anything just for the fun of it, I also tried out some new things: a new method of carrying my gels (a whole post on my new sports bra with pockets is needed); and a new fueling strategy ⠀
⠀
It feels pretty cool to remember the race and the iconic buildings; the thousands of costumes and spectators; and the endless music. ⠀

Different races. Different goals. All cool.

  • Had a long, busy & absolutely no running motivation of a week so today’s 10 mile run felt good to get outside, be with friends & feel like I actually could run. 🏃🏼‍♀️ Crazy how each day is different!!! Wednesday I could barely run 1 mile before I was in tears 😫 ⁣⁣⁣

Today’s run was cold & foggy in parts but for the most part pretty clear. Ended up with wet & a BIG tangled mess of my ponytail! 🤣🤣 And frost all over my hat! ❄️⁣⁣⁣
