LEARN: As an essential part of Toronto's makeup, we decided to dedicate our location to multiculturalism! Recognized as one of the most multicultural cities in the world, Toronto is home to more than 250 ethnicities, bringing together communities through music, fashion, and of course, delicious food. To celebrate, we've commissioned internationally-known Italian photographer, @OlivieroToscaniStudio to create a mural that will span from our grand entrance to our second floor along our escalator. The piece will feature faces from around the world, representing our incredibly diverse city. We can't wait for you to discover it all! Just 12 days, amici – get ready!

  • Happy Birthday to @curlyukelady @avgxguy or @drsbopnpop and @timmysnephew 🥳. I like my Scorpio family! Here is a fun version of happy birthday that I arranged really quick. Tried to play the ukulele like an ukulele in this one 😊. This is how my dad taught me how to play.

  • So much gratitude to West Coast Custome Timber Ltd for their kind donation of beautiful cedar and fir boards. We could never have made the garden as lovely without you!!
Check out WCTL if you ever have a project that involves felling a tree that you don't want to waste as firewood. Chad and his lovely crew will come and create lumber with his portable mill instead! Who knows, maybe you can make your own garden bed from your own tree!

  • Introducing, Sasha Burdin, co-founder of Global Art Bridges, and an amazing musician. This Friday at Center for New Music, we will premiere his piece, Calling, which fuses jazz, carnatic, classical, and crossover musical ideas into one, beautiful and poignant representation of the elements air, fire, and rain.
Sasha Burdin is a concert and jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and music educator. He received DMA from the University of Iowa.

In 2014 as a member of Ephawk Quartet he performed Messiaen’s Quatuor Pour la Fin du Temps. The concert tour in western Iowa has gained a considerable resonance, the performance was regarded in media as “miraculous.” The same year Mr. Burdin accepted fellowship at Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox, MA. In 2015 Sasha and his colleagues Thiago Ancelmo, clarinet, and Andrew Uhe, violin have formed Nashat Trio. They performed works By Bartok, Milhaud, Khachaturian and Schostakovich, and appeared as featured ensemble at Laredo Music Festival 2016. In 2015-2016 season Sasha Burdin participated in Johnson County Landmark jazz band as a principal pianist, performing with guest artists, Carmen Bradford (former singer at Count Basie’s Jazz Band), and Melvin Butler (Brian Blade Fellowship Band). In 2016 Sasha Burdin has founded The Sasha Burdin Quartet, performing original compositions and pieces from standard jazz repertoire. In 2016 he started a collaboration with Rachel Joselson, soprano, and Scott Conklin, violin on Medtner’s music. The collaboration soon resulted in a series of concerts, and CD Ich denke dein:Songs and Chamber Works of Nikolai Medtner. https://www.amazon.com/Ich-Denke-Dein-Chamber-Nikolai/dp/B07KZ35PXC

As a part of his doctoral project, Sasha Burdin has also recorded several of Medtner’s piano solo works, including rarely performed Second Improvisation,Op. 47. A new CD with these recordings is getting ready to be released.
