The University of Oxford, despite having no clear foundation date, is the second oldest university in the world. The city is incredibly pretty, albeit an intimidating maze of historic colleges and cobbled lanes that look confusingly similar.
I wandered around getting lost in weak autumn sunshine yesterday. Following a dog-legged lane, I turned a corner to find myself here, under the Bridge of Sighs. Across the road is the beautiful and fascinating Bodleian Library which requires an oath from students and readers who use it. It reads: “I hereby undertake not to remove from the Library, or to mark, deface, or injure in any way, any volume, document, or other object belonging to it or in its custody; not to bring into the Library or kindle therein any fire or flame, and not to smoke in the Library; and I promise to obey all rules of the Library.” It holds 13 million printed items. 📖

Punting in the morning sun? Yes please! Though the weather wasn't the best in the past days, the sun made an appearance two or thee times this week. Punting is a traditional activity here in Oxford - but it's definitely much more popular (and pleasant) in the summer than in the cold December!

Finally had the opportunity to vote for the first time in my life today. Such a flood of emotions - happiness, gratefulness, hope. I cried all the way back home.
What an incredible phenomenon elections are. Walking to the polling station felt like I was about to do one of the most important tasks of my life: helping to decide an entire nation's future. It's incredible to think of the power that comes with your vote - YOU are rewriting history. And what happens in one country shapes and determines what happens in the rest of the world. So you are not just impacting this country but world history at large.
What a big burden of responsibility! But how beautiful that individuals with their single votes can come together and push a nation on a different path. We are at the crossroads at this very moment. Very rarely do you get the opportunity to actually contribute to something so large-scale and momentous.
Make the most of this. Go out and vote. And vote wisely, for yourself, for everyone, and for mother Earth.

The carved figure on the church tower watches like a silent sentinel over Oxford at dusk. ✨ Photography tip: December is the best time of year to get evening shots of Oxford from St Mary’s tower - I believe the last climb is at 16.30 each day. And if you think the picture is lovely, wait until you see the view in person! 😍
E invece, ho anticipato i tempi 😉 #igersoxfordshire
Happy Tuesday from the lovely @101coffeejericho 🌿 The cup of coffee and the book 'Philosophy of Coffee' by @briancoffeespot look like the perfect macth don't they?☕ But the reality is me fueling with some caffeine to calm down from catching an essay deadline 🔥
