A few weeks ago I got to check out the @socality X #canyonlights event at @capilanosuspensionbridge before it opened to the public. It was a magical, misty morning and I 10/10 recommend paying them a visit this season! 🌲💛 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I'm off to NYC for some extra Christmas cheer and holiday adventures 🥰 What should I see while I'm there?!

  • I am grateful for my limbs!
🙌🦵💕
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The other day, my taxi driver told me about the customer before me. A man with no arms or legs, who really changed his perspective. This man told the driver that 6 months ago, he had all his limbs!! That he was sleeping on the floor when a bug bit him and the poison then started to travel to his extremities.
One by one, the doctors had to remove his arms and legs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But this man had so much GRATITUDE for his life!He was grateful that he was still alive and able to love his family.
This man was so strong and hopeful when many of us, myself included, might have wanted to give up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Could you imagine your life without limbs?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every day since I’ve been reminding myself how grateful I am for these limbs of mine. Because health is something we can so easily take for granted ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • I heard that it’s international mountain day, so I thought I’d share an image from one of my favorite mountains.
There's nothing quite like sitting under the stars and seeing the Milky Way slowly appear right over this mountain in the wilderness. Si Yett is the Yakima Tribal name for Mount St. Helens and means "woman." According to legend, Si Yett was a beautiful maiden placed on earth by the Great Spirit to protect the Bridge of the Gods on the Columbia River from Mount Adams and Mount Hood, the battling brothers. Also known as Loowit by the Puyallup Tribes, this mountain has long fascinated me due in part to its rich mythical history and the legends that surround it.
This image was taken a couple of years ago during an especially windy evening, which made taking this image with wildflowers in the foreground all the more challenging, despite the higher ISO setting. I ended up getting lucky and managed to come away with a few images that didn't include motion blur. This involved several images focus stacked for the foreground flowers during blue hour and a separate image taken later that evening for the sky. I hope that overall though the end result is that it conveys the feeling of wonder that I had being there. 🏔💜
I’ll be leading another small group around this area next June if you’re interested in joining along on the action. Aside from photographing the stunning wildflowers and Milky Way as shown here, we’ll also have some gorgeous forest/ waterfall action in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Reach out and email/message me if you’re interested in more details. To be announced very soon on my website, or subscribe to my mailing list for upcoming 2020 announcements.📩📷

  • (This is a long post, so bare with me here 🙈)
.

Woohoo!! I’m officially finished with my first term of college & tomorrow I’ll be on my way home! 🖤 Starting tomorrow I’ll be shipping out huge batches of orders for the next week, so watch out for shipping notifications in your emails! . .

These past few months have been crazy busy, stressful and amazing all in one, and let me just say I am absolutely speechless about how this year has treated Gray+Hound!! 🥰 For those of you who are new here and don’t know me, I thought I’d introduce myself and share some things you might like to know. Hello, this is me, Nyah 👋🏻 I started Gray+Hound back in 2013 when I was just 12 years old, and let me tell you we’ve changed (for the better) since then! I’m here to tell you that you can do anything you put your mind to. I once saw a quote that said “good things come to those who, hustle!” and I stand behind that 100%. 💁🏼‍♀️💪🏻 When you put your mind and heart into something incredible things can happen. For years I’ve dreamed of offering exclusive gear for my customers, but I could never find the patterns that I could stand behind. So, I took it upon myself to bring in those patterns to the shop & here we are finally being able to offer unique gear for you and your pups! 🤜🏻 Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your love and support this year! Happy Holidays everyone!! 🖤🎁

  • 🌊Cape Falcon🌊
This is a 4.8 mile hike with about 650 feet elevation gain, with beautiful ocean views and beach access (Short Sands Beach). The rainforest you’ll walk through is honestly my favorite part of the hike, except it does get very muddy and there are lots of exposed roots. It is my second favorite coastal hike (after Neahkahnie mountain) and will be a great addition to your next trip to the coast!!

  • 3 Posts, 1 Day!? Hell yeah! Make sure you check out the others.

I've been toying with the idea of changing up my style, my "grid theme" if you will and this is a beautiful set of tones I've come to love.

I've always found myself editing photos this way and always saying "I can't post that, it doesn't fit my feed" or "I wish I could post this". So, here is the change. I'm super excited to share this new visual journey with you as we near the end of 2019.

Have you ever found yourself in the same situation? Loving an edit that doesn't fit your grid!? Let me know if this has happened to you!

  • Happy International Mountain Day!🖤 Climb up a large mountain to appreciate how small you are. Mountains are humbling, in a very good way. You never climb the same mountain twice, not even in memory. Memory rebuilds the mountain, changes the weather, retells the jokes, remakes the climb. The mountains are calling and I must go.↟ᨏ↟ᨏ ↟

  • there is an ancient world crawling itself back to life in your feet
you, you in all that residual hurt
all the ash you are trying to brush off
you, woman, are a mountain forming
a small piece of earth trying to find the sky from under all that rubble
a peak pushing toward light
let the rest fall from your shoulders on your way up
rising is your birthright.
