I heard that it’s international mountain day, so I thought I’d share an image from one of my favorite mountains.
There's nothing quite like sitting under the stars and seeing the Milky Way slowly appear right over this mountain in the wilderness. Si Yett is the Yakima Tribal name for Mount St. Helens and means "woman." According to legend, Si Yett was a beautiful maiden placed on earth by the Great Spirit to protect the Bridge of the Gods on the Columbia River from Mount Adams and Mount Hood, the battling brothers. Also known as Loowit by the Puyallup Tribes, this mountain has long fascinated me due in part to its rich mythical history and the legends that surround it.
This image was taken a couple of years ago during an especially windy evening, which made taking this image with wildflowers in the foreground all the more challenging, despite the higher ISO setting. I ended up getting lucky and managed to come away with a few images that didn't include motion blur. This involved several images focus stacked for the foreground flowers during blue hour and a separate image taken later that evening for the sky. I hope that overall though the end result is that it conveys the feeling of wonder that I had being there. 🏔💜
I’ll be leading another small group around this area next June if you’re interested in joining along on the action. Aside from photographing the stunning wildflowers and Milky Way as shown here, we’ll also have some gorgeous forest/ waterfall action in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Reach out and email/message me if you’re interested in more details. To be announced very soon on my website, or subscribe to my mailing list for upcoming 2020 announcements.📩📷
After this shot, the drone lost connection and started flying completely the opposite way on a low battery warning 😬 luckly got the connection back and landed on the palm of my hand. Didn't fly it after that 😂 @dji got work on your connection issues cmon now

I think the original caption with this suits it well- the oceans motion!
And right now we are in the season of winter storms and lots of motion!
If you check out the coast be sure and respect the ocean, it’s a pretty powerful force of nature.
