  • That was a fun run down the Las Vegas Strip for 13.1 miles! Did you follow along on my insta stories? I have to say that this race wouldn’t be nearly as fun during the day because Vegas all lit up at night is magical. Night races are definitely a different beast. I had an AMAZING time, until mile 12 when a splitting headache and nausea kicked in (I think from the flashing lights? 😬🤷🏻‍♀️) I finished though and now finally deciding to put some food in me. ....Saturday wasn’t about “racing”  this go around...I’ve done plenty this year ...this was about running with and supporting my best friend @mvdunham5_runs as she took on this SUPER HARD 50 miles!!!!! My goals were to make sure she got her medal and had fun....——and while things went a little sideways...I am so PROUD of how we never backed down 🚨 🚨 —- @mvdunham5_runs has a recap on her post ...head over there to read—- It’s her story to tell🚨 —- ——

Things i learned—- ⭐️ I can eat only skittles and Coke for 30 miles and be totally fine 😝 (and i don’t like tropical flavor skittles, Skittles are also a choking hazard while running 💀)
⭐️⭐️ I can run 50 miles with rocks in my shoes (makes your mentally tougher) (I didn’t have time to take them out)😂😅
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am now a much stronger runner...I didn’t feel tired and actually felt like I could keep running at the finish ! fastest mile split 8:30 , Mile 40 (downhill) 💥 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Always be ready Go with Plan B or C...It’s not over until it’s over...Only YOU know what your capable of!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- When the going gets Rough....We ARE TOUGH AF——- Meghan and I have done MANY races together...and know each other well but she showed me how deep she can dig,
What an absolutely amazing positive attitude she can have and that she never looses that wicked sense of humor....despite her having a very tough day and NOT feeling well most of the race. I have more respect and Love for her now then ever!!! ——Many times I thought she will either love me more or hate me after this!- ....

If you are looking for someone who only posts perfect running pictures, like I’m leaping through the air like a weightless gazelle, with no sweat dripping down my face, the sun beaming perfectly down on me, and with the biggest smile like running isn’t one bit painful...you won’t find that here.
And if you’re looking for someone who ONLY posts pictures of the healthier food they eat, like kale, spinach, and only veggies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...you also won’t find that here.
What you will find is someone who is brutally honest about running, marathon training, weight loss, mental health, ED recovery, death of a loved one, and finding balance in life, all while chasing down goals that seem “crazy” and not taking “no” for an answer. Someone who balances salads with a cookie, oatmeal with a cream cheese bagel, Whole Foods with McDonalds chocolate milkshakes. You’ll also find someone who can laugh at themselves when they positive split big time on a training run😂🤦🏼‍♀️(but hopefully not a race🤞🏼), can post a picture with a giant thumbs down👎🏼, and someone who wants to see others succeed. 
In the past, I’ve seen posts that give off this “perfect” vibe and honestly, it makes me laugh😂 because becoming a stronger runner and better person is anything but a perfect journey. It’s hard work and you’ve gotta grit your teeth a lot to fight through😬😰but I love sharing my complete journey with you all and am so glad you’re along for the ride!

My earphones’ battery ran out mid run (I must be less reckless in future)🎧. I always need a form of entertainment whilst treadmill running so I just played my music so that it was just about loud enough to hear and not disturb the other gym goers💁🏻‍♀️. But then in walked a newcomer, the stereo went on FULL BLAST and then it descended into an all out music battle/war. My iphone couldn’t compete, but hey it’s all about the principle..📱 I think?

  • I began volunteering with GOTR last year
.
I wanted to become involved with a charity whose mission I believed in — & if you know me then you how much I love playing the role of encourager for people I believe in.
.
Each season leaves me inspired to the max. The lessons are relevant to all ages and there is really no limit to what these kids can do, including finishing a 5K strong! Grateful to support a program that I could have surely used as a kid.

  • 10k in 1:00:30 🙌🙌 This week I'm focussing on my eating. I have an awful habit of skipping breakfast because I don't feel up to it, but if I force myself to eat it, I feel fine.

Today, I had porridge with cinnamon and honey for breakfast, a vegetarian fry up for lunch and a quinoa, wholegrain rice and Halloumi salad for dinner.

I've also made more of a conscious effort to drink more water throughout the day, as this was something I was definitely slacking on. I've set an alarm on my phone every hour to remind me to drink another glass.

Already I can feel such a difference when I run. My legs would normally start to feel tired at mile 2, but today they didn't start to slow until mile 7. I recovered from the run much quicker than usual, and feel that I could have pushed on another mile at that pace.

  • Back from the sidelines! First run post sickness, and it was actually one of my most comfortable runs yet. Two things I'm grateful for: 1️⃣ Getting off work at 4pm so I can chase sunsets instead of running in complete darkness the whole time, and 2️⃣ All things fleece lined.

Davies’ Desert Island Discs today while doing my hill session today and my new favourite running track is The OT Quartet’s Hold That Sucker Down- I had forgotten how utterly joyous old school jingly jangly piano dance music can be- equally uplifting when getting hot and sweaty in a nightclub or when getting hot and sweaty pushing up a hill ⛰🎧🎶🏃🏼‍♀️

I have been wanting to run for days now, but finally felt good enough to go out today and actually do it! 
I still have a little cough so I kept it easy with 2 miles at an easy pace. The first mile felt better than I thought it would, but I couldn’t cough quite hard enough to get the stuff that seemed stuck. 
The second mile felt harder but I wasn’t coughing so...you win some, you lose some 🤷‍♀️ Afterward I made Jake take my pic here cause there were ponies in the background 💖💖 Now time to warm up with some soup! 🥣 -

  • Do you know what these two runners (#1 and # 563) have in common? Run Hard Race Director Jesse Harmon of the @lexingtonhalfmarathon was at the Finish Line to greet both of them. Run Hard operates by the motto, "Celebrate the fast and celebrate the last." I've worked a lot of race finish lines. Before the cut off time, I've seen the arch and flags removed, the music and the timing clock turned off, no volunteers left to hand the last finishers a medal or a bottle of water. But this race was different. Yes, it was wet, it was windy, it was COLD - but every runner was treated the same. That was extremely  meaningful to me to witness. And as runners, no matter what your pace, we are a community, and from the first to the last - you are celebrated!
