Medal monday! Gisteren héérlijk gelopen tijdens de Bruggenloop. Ik ging erheen zonder verwachtingen en eindigde in 1:13:07! Zéker voor herhaling vatbaar volgend jaar. Next: Linnschotenloop. Wie zie ik daar? #medalmonday#bruggenloop#runningmakesmehappy
I got a giant coozie for my knee! Unfortunately this is not for beer, though. I've taken a couple days off due to a bit of a knee issue that's cropped up since falling just over a week ago. Thought it would heal, or at least I could pretend it wasn't an issue, but that didn't pan out. Tomorrow I'll test this thing out and see how I feel. Hopefully I can get back at it for a nice 4 week training block before I taper for Big Beach!
48 days until #bigbeachmarathon 🏃 #bodyhelix#movethroughit

...and just like that Windrunner Kati Snyder becomes the first qualifier for the Olympic Trials with a time or 2:42:37!
Biggest shoutout and congratulations to her! As well as her teammate and fellow Windrunner Kylen Cieslak, who came in with a time of 2:50!
Tonight was my longest run since my half marathon! I think it also marks the end of my trial of the keto diet😂 i felt so horrible after this run, and i think it was due to lack of carbs. Maybe i’ll try it again one day but for now i think its just adding un-needed challenge to an already challenging task😭im fine with feeling uncomfortable during a run, thats how its supposed to be, but afterwards im supposed to feel good! #run#running#runningcommunity#runner

SPENGA with @hello.megs 😅
I didn’t want to run today and lately I am struggling to find motivation to start training for Boston 🦄. When that happens I usually brew some coffee and slowly make my way out the door for a run. Usually I can convince myself to run at least 4. I know I need to snap out of this and get back in the swing of things, but I’m really struggling and it’s almost time to REALLY REALLY start. 😱😩 Send help! I need runners motivation or a upcoming 10k/ 13.1 race to hold me accountable or SOMETHING!!

Successful Monday run!
Fastest 10 mile treadmill run so glad I could accomplish that.
I knew after mile 2 I could run the distance so just had to work on breathing.
Failed a morning outside run Saturday so glad the failed runs were only temporary.
Not sure what my next personal goal is but glad I'm logging the long runs during december.
The other week at work a bunch of us were sitting at lunch talking about our plans for the weekend, and before I could even finish my sentence - which I’m pretty sure was “I’m going for a long run Sunday” - a coworker, in front of everyone else, went “that’s business as usual, anyone else doing anything that actually sounds fun?” before I could say I was going to a local food festival that same weekend just to prove my life-running balance.
That’s something I’ve struggled with a lot in the past. Balancing real life of working, commuting, and being a young adult in a booming metropolis with the rigors and occasional stresses of marathon training. Stephanie Bruce said it best a few months ago when she said on Twitter “when I was a younger athlete I used to think missing out on things due to training was a sacrifice. Now I see it as a choice and I hold myself more accountable for those decisions.” That really stuck with me and I have used it as a mantra this training cycle. While the outside world doesn’t - and probably never will unless they try - understand, running and marathon training has improved more areas of my life beyond the physical aspect ever could. It’s brought me a sense of community, texts from @runner_liv 4 minutes ago in all caps saying “WE ARE SO LUCKY WE GET TO RUN” and the skill in having the confidence to choose my priorities without any fear of judgment. Running for me may be business as usual, but I will never regret the choices I have made to improve myself as an athlete, as a young professional & as a person. And for the record, these side by side pics are by no means a transformation, but rather a photographic evidence that you actually CAN do fun things like go to Emporiyum and eat amazing junk food on Saturday & then go out and crush a 12-mile cutback long run on Sunday.
Proving non-runners wrong along the way has been one of the subthemes of my Instagram, and I am curious...have any of you ever experienced any pushback from non-runners? And if you are one of the lucky ones who haven’t, what do you do to maintain a healthy running-life balance? For me it’s simple: run all the miles, eat ALL the food ✨
You know what’s really cool about the running community? The people! I had the pleasure of meeting Karin at #RagnarTrailAlafia this weekend. I was on my first loop, Green, and saw a woman just ahead of me on the trail. I noticed we were running about the same pace and she had a @stpeterunningco shirt on so she had to be cool. I ran up to her and asked if she wanted to run together. At this point we were just over a mile into a 5.5 mile loop and it was getting dark so company was definitely welcomed. She happily accepted my invitation and we continued on our journey. It was truly a pleasure running with her and getting to know a little bit about her. Will I ever see her again? Likely not. But she will always be etched into my Ragnar journey. And that, my friend, is what this community is about! #ragnarnation#runstpete#stpeterunningcompany#runningcommunity#womensrunningcommunity#womensupportingwomen
There are 195 countries and flags out there. While in New York City Marathon, this little boy was sitting on the top of his father's shoulders. Do you know which country flag he's holding up?
Hint: This country is not in North America or South America. ;)
When you finish 13.1 miles do you feel like HALF of an athlete?? NO WAY! SHE Power Half; a whole lot of power! 💪🏼
