Had a fantastic day at the @ukactive National Summit yesterday! A day of conversation surrounding physical activity in three core aspects of our lives; how we live, where we live and how we work. The day was full of thought-provoking key note speeches from a range of industry experts, Olympic Athletes and governmental figures.
We had a brilliant time and we are looking foreword to adapting some of the key points into Schools Plus agenda. Swipe to see some of our photos from the day! #SchoolsPlus#ukactive#nationalsummit#ukactivenationalsummit#westminster#london#event#photography#october
Great time today at the #DartmouthHEADSTRONG2019 Summit. Lots of talk around mental health stigma, real stories, and ideas on how junior high students from 11 different schools in attendance can be change agents in both their schools and communities. Happy to be a part of it with the #schoolsplus team
((BOUNCE)) classes are high intensity, low impact workouts performed on mini trampolines.
The atmosphere is fun, friendly and fierce, making the time spent in class welcoming, sociable and seriously effective!
It is also fully inclusive, if you can jump, you can join! Offering a full body workout, it is suitable for any level of fitness as we always give low options and adaptations
((BOUNCE)) is 3 times more effective than floor based exercise due to gravity and g-force ☆
We challenge you to come to class and leave without a smile! ♡

It was World Mental Health Day yesterday. I guess we all cannot undermine how important mental health is.
Here is an information to students and families in Nova Scotia about an important service; SchoolsPlus.
SchoolsPlus helps children, youth and families connect to a range of programs by working with school staff and other partners. In addition to mental health services, supports include mentoring, after-school programs, homework support, youth groups and parenting supports.

"Last year I was lucky enough to get involved with two placements - I volunteered with student-led homework clubs in both Winchester Discovery Centre and in Eastleigh Library.
Although some of the children were quite reluctant to do their maths sums, I always found a way to make the session interactive and fun for them, and also found that my contribution was really appreciated by the parents.
If my schedule wasn’t so hectic this year I would most certainly return and continue my support." - Rosanna, past Schools Plus volunteer and current Communications Officer
"Hi, I’m Charlotte, I'm a 3rd year Theatre Production student and I’m one of the Schools Plus co-ordinators for Winchester Hub. My role involves recruiting and supporting volunteers who are involved in the Schools Plus project. I got involved with Winchester Hub in my second year to meet new people and to make a difference to the local community." Find out more and apply for Schools Plus on our website - link in bio 🧡
"Hi I’m Kieran! I’m a third year Media & Communications student at Winchester and one of the new Schools+ Coordinators for Winchester Hub. I first got involved in volunteering after a lecture about opportunities in second year and wanted to gain valuable experience in a career I would potentially pursue in the future, whilst helping others and making a difference to their lives. I applied for Schools+ as I had considered teaching as a career, but wanted to gain more experience, skills and knowledge of the education sector and what teaching would be like.
Going into a school for the first time can be daunting but I absolutely loved it! Seeing young people grow in confidence and develop academically and personally inspires me to make change. It is the small ‘lightbulb’ moments that make the biggest difference; when a student grasps a concept or idea and is thankful. It’s great to represent our university in schools and inspire the next generation of doctors, police officers and accountants to work hard and achieve. By joining Winchester Hub, you can help make a difference and help tackle educational disadvantage." Find out more about Schools Plus on our website - link in bio.
I'm Helen and I am Projects Officer at Winchester Hub. I oversee all of the long term volunteering projects offered at Winchester including Schools Plus, LinkAges, Youth Theatre and Woolly Matters.
I also work closely with the student committee to support all the fab things they are doing. I was involved in similar volunteering projects whilst I was at uni through the @oxfordhub and am super excited to be overseeing so many exciting projects this year!
