I don’t think I’ve ever gotten more “Where are your boots from?” comments or DMs about any other pair of shoes before. I swear I could write a caption where I pour my heart out but if I’m wearing these bad boys I’ll get WAY more comments about my boots than about anything I wrote lol
It’s ok, I don’t blame you. They are pretty cute. These boots are called the Everson from @bionicashoes and I’ve ended up wearing them almost every day since I got them. They have become my go-to’s for a few reasons:
First is their functionality (of course). They are fully waterproof and have great tread which is ESSENTIAL if you are living in the mountains in the winter! Second is the style. They go well with pretty much anything… from what I wear to yoga to what I wear out to dinner... casual or a little dressier. And lastly, the convenience/comfort. They are the comfiest booties I own AND they have a zipper on the inside so they are SUPER easy to take on and off. This may seem like a small thing but when I’m running out the door quickly (which is most of the time) I always end up choosing what’s easy.
I know the holidays are coming up quick so if you are looking for a great gift idea or maybe a little gift to yourself feel free to use the code “arielle20” for 20% your entire @bionicashoes order. I love how many of you have sent me pics of your “Arielle Inspired” gear/outfits. Are any of you going to be twinning with me? (photo by @photograferg) #bionicaventures#bionicapartner

Truth be told I’ve been feeling a lot of confusion lately. This whole Instagram thing was never part of my plan and sometimes I feel like I have no idea what I’m even doing.
Before Instagram became a thing for me I was a full-time yoga teacher. I taught about a million and a half classes a week to afford to live in Aspen and was constantly pushing up against burnout but I was sure of myself... I knew who I was and had a deep sense of purpose in the work I was doing.
Flash forward to today... I’m still working hard but it looks so different now. I have a lot more free time and freedom... money isn’t so tight. I have the freedom to chase big dreams like my PCT hike next year... but I also have so much confusion about my contribution to the world.
I share all this because I think it’s easy to look at the people we follow online and think their lives are perfect.. or they have it all figured out... I can’t speak for anyone else but I definitely know that I am still “figuring all this out”.
I’m learning how to take all of this unexpectedness and turn it into meaning. I’m learning how to find my own way in a world that wants to push you one way or the other. I’m learning how to find my voice and speak my truths.
I have no idea what this next year will look like but I have a feeling we are all in for more surprises. Even though all this was never a part of the plan I’m so grateful... I’m grateful for each and every one of you... and I’m grateful we get to explore all this madness together. (📸: @photograferg )
Today I am 34. When I look back I tend to remember long ago and very recent, but with a lot of blank spaces in between. Getting older, it seems to me, has been a shift away and then back to myself. I’ve experienced enough to sometimes be cynical, but to also recognize the other side. The magic of getting older. Unbridled optimism and idealism show up a little less, but empathy shows up more. So does capability. Respect for myself. Confidence in my actions.
I know more about what I don’t know now — it’s very freeing. I know that 34 is actually still very young. That I’m still quite naive. That I will come back and read this one day with a laugh and a smile. Appreciating the boldness and cringing at the cluelessness. I still have so much to learn. But the remarkable thing that has accompanied more trips around the sun is this: I’m okay with it. Okay with knowing and not knowing. Okay with the grey areas. Okay leaving room for the unknown.
All of this while standing firmly in what I do know — that in order to feel alive I must surround myself with life. In nature and in my classroom, but even when I am alone. Because just like the tallest redwood or the tiniest grain of sand, I have a story. I can feel my heart beating with theirs. We’ve been here. We’ve survived. We are alive.
I can’t wait to see what this year holds.
“The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different...” This is a famous JB Priestly quote that we can’t help but agree with... just look at this waterfall! We love this photo of these women who hike that reminds us of being in a real life snow globe!
Hair your hiking apparel claimed its spot in your everyday life? Mine has.

( #AD ) This holiday season I hope you make time for yourself and those you love. With our family scattered about the country, Benji and I create new traditions together every year, spend quality time together, and try to create a stress-free transition into the new year. Last weekend we made a new tradition and cut down our own tree in Willamette National Forest! Yes, this is totally legal with a $5 permit that you purchase through the US Forest Service. It was so fun!
Over the years some of the best gifts I’ve received has been gear from @rei 🎁 From jackets to tents, gear is the gift that keeps on giving-it gets those you love to get outside as much as possible. I don’t know about you but this time of year it’s especially hard for me to get off my couch and get outside-making it even more important to do just that, and influence those around you.
To make things easy for your holiday shopping and getting outside this winter I have created a blog full of my favorite pieces of gear from 2019! More on my stories.
The high desert of central Oregon is home to one of the state’s wonders and a chunk of land that totally appears out of place. Created 30 million years ago after a large volcanic crater formed, rock and ash welded together leaving behind the jagged spires of Smith Rock. Rising 3200 feet above sea level and offering 12 official trails, it’s one of the best hiking spots in the state.
Reserve a half or full day to hike Smith Rock State Park during your Oregon itinerary. It’s definitely a place you don’t want to miss!
Listen to the melody of nature ☘️🎋 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Winter princess feelings ❄️
I’ve already started to take you around Christmas decorations in Singapore but let me tell you that Christmas Wonderland in Gardens by the Bay is NEXT LEVEL! I couldn’t stop smiling & dancing on the Christmas songs while strolling through the markets 🎅🏻 almost as if I was back in Europe for a moment, especially when the artificial snow was cannoned under the luminarie light sculptures ⛄️ If you want to experience this magic yourself, you have until the 26 of December! Remember to book online for the best price (8$ instead of $10/12 onsite). Check my stories for more Christmas vibes & videos from this place 💫
🔐 To get such a clean shot here, wait until the closing time (11pm). Around 15min before, the crowds will start to leave & you’ll have the place to yourself 📸 This photo was taken at 22:49 precisely!
My princess dress comes from @jjshouseofficial 💗 Enjoy 10% off your order with the code BLONDIE 🤗 The exact ID of this one is 167689, you can select it in any color (there is 48!) but you can also pick any other you’d prefer ✨ #jjshouse
With a dreamy far off look & her nose stuck in a book ✨⠀
Back home, one of Michelle’s favorite things to do was to borrow an endless amount of library books. On the road, reading books on our phones hasn’t been the same as having a physical copy so it was such a treat to find a library in Singapore. Right in the middle of a mall, this library was modern, bright and very quiet! ⠀
Any other bookworms out there? 📖⠀
PS - We’ve been working hard on our website and our new travel guides for Malaysia are up! Link in bio. ⠀
I found this piece of whale bone while walking on the beach. The black sand glittered under my boots, the waves reflected the pinks and oranges of the perpetual sunset, and the fresh snow and ice glowed and sparkles. Iceland only gets about four hours of light in December, but damn does it make those hours count. (Swipe right for photos)

Guess you have to wait until midnight to get a shot of this place without the crowds🌃

Will add more details on which area we flew over in coming posts. In this picture, you see turtle rock. If you see it side ways looks like a turtle floating !
