  • Another #tbt because this one is too good not to share. ⠀ ⠀ Hi friends, we’re Cassandra + Seth Forester, the two behind @goldandrust. We met, fell in love & 6 months later, left our jobs to drive cross country buying and selling vintage -- and #goldandrust was born. We were a pop up shop for three years before we opened our brick + mortar.   • Hiiiii 👋🏼 Thought it'd be a good time for a reintroduction to those who recently started following me. I'm Brooke, maker from BrookeLyn Ceramics, a name I came up with when I started my hand in ceramics at a Brooklyn studio in 2015. I'm 35, recently married (woop woop🎉), and live in Oakland, CA, a place I've considered home since forever, along with nearby Vallejo. I spend the majority of my days behind my desk handpinching everything ceramic, and sell at shows, online and via wholesale. Despite the plethora of hours I give to ceramics and my family, I'm also a hospice nurse. The nursing job pays the bills but my heart has always been in anything creative; growing up I bounced from wanting to be a chef to interior designer to fashion designer to writer to a general crafter, etc. My nurse mom gave me the wise advice to follow nursing as a means of stability to allow me to pursue my creative passions, and so here I am, "messin' with play-doh all day" (as my husband jokes) and making a little of that "doh" on the side. I strongly believe in balance, 9+ hours of sleep, empathy, tea tree oil, getting your hands dirty, lists, surrounding myself with beautiful things and people, and yelling at the TV when the news pisses me off!   • 300+ POST MILESTONE We blew past that milestone and didn’t even notice. We wanted to honor the occasion with “random” reflections.  First, we’ve gained so many new friends along the journey! Merchants, employees, artists, makers, shoppers, and others so dedicated to #thetown. We’ve learned so much from you! And your love continues to drive us in our mission! THANK YOU.  We aim to inspire a #sooakland #buylocal attitude. Let’s #keepitoakland! So, hopefully, we’ve delighted you with posts about the importance, benefits, and joys of shopping local in #oakland and beyond. We’ve also published a SPECIAL HOLIDAY EDITION Oakland Indie Shopping Guide as a tool to help you discover SALES, EVENTS, GIFT IDEAS, and more. (LINK IN OUR BIO).
