Bus life has kicked us, spit on us, stole our lunch money, and stood over us making “yo momma” jokes. Despite being a little beat up, we would do it all again. There has been a lot of storms, but we have also seen some stunning rainbows.

We aren't the same people who walked out of our lives 9 months ago.
We are still living in the house, our humans were just about to put the house on the market then our dad was in a really ruff motorcycle accident. He’s healing but can’t play bally with us yet, hopefully in a few months he can!
We still plan to embark on our bus adventure just not until late 2020. Until then, we hope for a lot of snow this winter to play in! You will see snow pictures when it does 😁❄️⚽️

#tinyliving and #homeschooling is a very interesting combination. One: your kids are nerds so they need space for all the books you want to trash. Two: you don't have the space😏 Knowing that beforehand, we have utilize every inch of the #lionsdenbus . This space used to house the heater that came with the bus that we had no need for so now it houses the kids school basket which has their everyday schoolwork.
Falling in love with little man is not what I imagined fatherhood would be like. I knew I would love him. But to enjoy him more and more each and everyday as he progresses is a joy I never imagined. This first year has been exceptional. #fatherhood#milonelson#parentlife#dadlife
A skoolie conversion is not all smiles!
But last night I watched a @brenebrown talk on Netflix about vulnerability. One small takeaway (there were so many!) was that vulnerability is required in order to live a truly courageous life. It reminded me of just how big a risk we’ve taken to pursue this dream life. Even though it’s scary at times, it gave me renewed energy and encouragement that we are moving in the right direction and that is certainly a reason to smile.
To anyone who chooses courage over comfort today, give yourself a pat on the back and leave a 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏽♂️ in the comments so we can all support one another.
Another step forward! The floor is all power washed and swept and ready for some Correseal... just waiting on amazon to deliver it! Today I felt like I accomplished something big... even though I only sprayed water and swept.. but this means that demo is done! NOW we build!! 🙌🏻📷🚌
This was fun! 🤪
Let’s just say my judgement on how steep a hill is and how much room I THINK I have is less than what I actually have. I haven’t really been frazzled driving Atticus yet. Intimidated yes, but usually I just put my big girl pants on and do what I need to do. This kind of freaked me out a bit. Mainly because I didn’t want to hurt anyone or damage anything. The bus is a beast, it would handle running into something I’m sure (omg not that tree!!) But people were coming over the hill really fast, so I thought it was safer to wait and then by the time Tony got there I was like “ can you please just get this out for me.” Good lord that was both embarrassing, humbling, and now entertaining. Driving a bus is no joke. It’s definitely not a Ford Focus that’s for dang sure! .
Thank you again to Tony and Dave @historicfix for once again saving my a$$! 🙌🏻🚌📷
With the bottom rear glass deleted and new taillights along with the windows tinted to 5% along and closing up all the old light holes and the new bumper and backup camera, I think the rear of the bus has had quite the makeover. So many steps for such a simple part of a 35ft bus.
Another exciting cheap find! I found these old medicine cabinets at a habitat for humanity restore for $10 each. They have a click lock and open upwards which is exactly what I wanted. I’m going to angle grind off the back corner to fit them to the curve of the roof and put frosted plexiglass in the front and of course a fresh coat of paint and some cute hardware. Can’t believe my luck in finding exactly what I wanted for so cheap. Restore is the best. .
This is not the best photo but means so much to us! This was our first night in the #skoolie . I (Maria) cried when we clean up the bus and was ready to be functional. I said - I can't believe this is our home 🥰 -. Took time, research, a ton of videos, countless trips to #homedepot , #lowes , #walmart and piles of Amazon boxes. And after 2+ months we were finally ready to start our journey!

Second layer of subfloor is down! Edit: I have yet to explain WHY on earth we are using fluffy insulation instead of foam blocks like everyone else. Well first of all, it’s R-13. Most foam is 5 or less. Chelsea has family in Alaska so we plan on spending a lot of time there and have to be able to stay warm because we’re Floridians. It was also a lot cheaper because it was free so yea easy decision. It’s in the 40s-50s here right now and the bus is still about 70 inside first thing in the morning with no heating and we haven’t even covered any windows yet. Long explanation but I probably answered someone’s question. Anyway, we added an extra layer to our floor because we have a full size bus and wanted to be sure that the area behind the rear wheels was stable enough to support the weight of both water tanks and our bed. We’ll also do underbelly storage here. Originally we were going to have a garage area but why not have alllll that natural lighting?! Our California King fits perfectly right where my lady @horror.business is standing... I can’t wait to sleep here 🥺💛
Today we worked into the darkness cutting wood for our floor. More updates on that later, but I just wanted to share this pic ‘cause I’m so stoked I found my tripod after 6 months!! Almost bought a new one. Had some fun taking a few night shots while we worked 😊 - C
Also, SNOW MUCH?! Thank goodness we sealed the roof 😮❄️💧
When your sick as a dog, home from work, and can’t work on your bus. You decide to watch videos and read to learn as much as possible about plumbing propane systems and fresh/grey water systems into your school bus. Then proceed to make a giant shopping list of everything you think you need.. .
