NASA has released satellite images of the immense amounts of snow California has received from the winter storms this year! The side-by-side, year-to-year comparison shows more extensive snow cover in 2019, and a greener landscape on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Click the link in our bio for details on how the Sierra snowpack compares to last year. Share your snow adventures with #abc7eyewitness ! Photos: NASA Earth Observatory images by Joshua Stevens.
PCT Day 2: Mile 36
What. A. Day. Woke up this morning (read hardly slept) with a punctured sleeping pad, feeling that cold granite we had pitched our tent on oh-so-well. A quick walk down to Lake Morena warmed me up though, and we easily found the hole and patched up the hole in my pad. Then we were on the trail again just as it started to warm up. The clouds rolled in around lunch and we climbed higher and higher, finally hitting trail covered entirely in snow. It feels familiar, a little like the PCT we had to abandon in Oregon last October, but this time the snow is melting rather than falling. Tonight we found a perfect tent sized snowless space under an oak tree to set up camp. I hope my dreams are even half as pretty as these snow covered desert hills have been. ❄️ #pct2019

Looking down the trail, no footsteps yet in the snow and miles and miles to go, and miles and miles to go.
Yesterday was a snow day and I made sure to enjoy a bit of it at one of my favorite local woodsy spots! A solo stroll through the woods in the snow is probably my favorite thing about winter. The air smells so fresh, and the woods are so quiet.... such a great way to destress and recharge all at the same time. If you haven't experienced Maine in the winter, you really should put it on the top of your to-do list! Be in touch and we'll plan something epic!
It has been quite the snowy week making travel to Moab a little more challenging. We try not to drive more than 4 hours a day or go too many days without moving. Stopped at a YMCA, for a snowy trail run and quick visit with our friend @__smiller. Excited to be in Moab for the next week. Anyone want to come adventure with us?

Kumma talvi! No, illasta meni ladut hetkessä tukkoon ja aamulla on taas vaihteeksi tiedossa lumitöitä... | Conditions for winter activities have been quite perfect this season even though winter doesn't know what to be: cold, mild, icy, snowy.. But for sure, tomorrow it's time to shovel and push snow again! 😌

It took me a while to accept I can't blame all the bad decisions (nor deny them credit for the good) in my life on my parents for raising me in a Christian purity cult.
The same way you wouldn't blame the kitchen installer or the roofer when the house crashes because the foundation was built on quicksand.
I hold my parents and the community that raised me accountable for my foundation.
I blame them the way you would the person that punched you in the face while sleepwalking.
That being said, the sleepwalker that never awakens will never recognize the harm caused by their actions. Understanding this, I choose to stay away from sleepwalkers; I'm still recovering from their punch that gave me a concussion.
And their foundation is still built on quicksand.
Mine is energy.
The foundation for life and source light of the divine.
That feeling when half of your hair matches your hat and the other half matches your gloves. Classic winter problem.
Had so so much fun cross country skiing with @timcarlielle last week. We went for hours each day in perfect conditions and didn’t see a single other person. In my 20s I thought of xcountry as kind of boring and preferred downhill skiing, but now I love the quiet exploration of a good Nordic ski. Plus, if you hit a downhill section, it’s arguably more fun and way more wild than alpine skiing. We zipped down some pretty good hills and the (numerous) wipeouts didn’t even hurt in the deep powder.
I’m looking forward to my next ski session, but for the next few days while it’s minus 20 Celsius or lower, I’ll probably be staying inside.
The dogs had a bad case of cabin fever (Loki has been chewing on everything! 😭), so we brought them along on my search for macrame worthy branches. They always love a change of scenery and the excitement of a trail. 😊 #doghike
I hear there is a LOT of mountain snow right now, and it’s even making its way to the lowlands, including Anacortes. We don’t have any accumulation yet (that’s supposed to start here in a couple hours) but have seen it snow on and off at our house this afternoon. Being from the midwest, I have all sorts of great memories of playing in the snow, so anytime we get snow in Anacortes, I get really excited! Fun fact: even though we are about as far north in the US as you can get, we still see very little snow in our town. It’s pretty rare that it even gets cold enough here for snow to fall. •
What’s your favorite thing to do on snowy days? Are you a stay-in-the-house-and-snuggle-up kind of person, or do you love to get out and play in the snow?

We are having some weather right now. Good for the mountains and not too bad for the trails. To be honest, I don't mind running in the snow, but I struggle with running when it's snowing. Luckily I am on a low mileage week. Next week is a big build though. Crossing fingers that the storm passes through. #trailrunning#snowstorm#snowytrails
I went for my first hike in a while! It was so much fun and Luna Bear did a great job! She's 9 years old and going strong 😊
I've been working on strengthening my knee and getting rid of some pain there. It felt great to get back outside!
