Some new samples arrived from Taiwan this week and so far I'm seriously impressed. We tried this milk oolong (I've never quite enjoyed this style) from Alishan mountain, from around 1200-1300m, and it knocked our socks off! A huge aroma of sweet lactose, butter and strawberry fruit, like some indulgent cream dessert. Both from the dry leaves and the infused liquor. "Maybe the best tea I've ever tasted", said Clare. A longer steep brought through the green leaf flavour for a bit of tangy, over-ripe fruit contrast but the lighter steeps were my preference. I haven't even started on the top of the range, higher altitude varieties yet! Thoroughly excited by this new contact and at the prospect of adding Taiwanese tea to the portfolio. I was graced by His Lordship the Cat's presence this morning.
I stretched his patience until he became quite exasperated with my teaing. . .
Although I enjoyed this OB ( Gosh... who wouldn't?), it tasted different from last time. It didn't sing as beautifully...
I did 5 gm in my Hanka Vrbicová side-handle teapot (180 ml). My leaf to water ratio was totally wrong. I normally put 5 gm in my 120 ml porcelain "Ferrari gaiwan"... Scroll to the last pic to see the mountain of spent leaves these 5 grams gave me! And still it wasn't enough leaves for this size pot...
I also think OB likes to reveal its best attributes in porcelain. I totally agree with @theteafairy, whose last post made me smile, as it was about an OB session as well. Synchronicity? But she chose her brewing vessel more carefully than me!

A brand new #letstalktea post just went up on my blog! This time around it features @umiteasets / Colourful Tea and their Phoenix Dancong (Oolong). I've tried a lot of Pheonix Oolongs over the past few years and hoenslty they just aren't my favourite and most of the time they just give me really bad heart burn because they are far too floral.
