I’m alright just a touch of November in my bones. 🍂✨
I don’t remember much about this place. I think we stayed for only 2 or 3 days and a majority of that time was spent working, but for one reason or another I vividly remember this scene. Now it serves as a constant reminder that wherever the road may lead, adventure always awaits.
Thank you to everyone that made it to my housewarming! I’m so glad my house is finally a home! // for those that don’t know... the powder room originally had metallic gold walls, hardwood floors, and a BROWN ceiling
Y'all might have heard that the innermost planet in our Solar System, Mercury, passed in front of the Sun today. The client I installed a telescope for this weekend also had a solar telescope to safely photograph the event. I haven't witnessed such an event before, which astronomers call a transit, so I was stoked to visual observe the chance alignment.
Could you imagine living on Mercury?! Well their year only lasts about 88 days and their night to day temperatures swing from -280 to 800 degrees Fahrenheit! Needless to say our weak human bodies wouldn't last there very long! To wrap the day up I drove back down to Albuquerque to fly out and got to visit my 90 year old grandfather who I haven't seen in nearly 15 years. I can't believe how much he is just like my dad and myself ha! What a beautiful way to end a great celestial event.
there are many small home based “restaurants” like this one in vietnam, they’re very common and you can easily have a fulfilling meal for less than $2 here.
however, it’s opened my eyes. here you may see a woman making a simple living by feeding her patrons homemade meals, but what i observed is a family running a business in order to afford their way of life.
here a family runs a small shop that pockets roughly $20/day. coming from america, i can’t imagine that way of life. i can mindlessly spend $20 and have nothing to show for it and unfortunately it’s what i’m so accustomed to. it has given me new perspective on the value of money and what it can do for me. i have never woken up and given my living conditions or financial situation a second thought but i am guilty of wanting more, acting selfish at times and being boastful of my material belongings.
meanwhile, this family is content. they’re okay. they’re alive. they have each other and they’re able to work and provide for another. i’m sure they have dreams of more but i know they are genuinely at peace with their standings in life.
i’m ashamed to admit it, but it took traveling across the world, which is not an opportunity everyone is given, for me to realize once again that everything i have is more than enough.
be mindful of the present and be thankful of what you have, the people around you, and the many support systems that surround you in life.
thanks for reading another morning coffee journal entry 🖤
Tim Treft 4 days, 30 miles, 12,200 feet change in elevation Grand walk in the Canyon!📷: @timtreft ⠀
Did you know that Spanish explorers led by Hopi guides were the first Europeans to reach the Grand Canyon in the 1540s?⠀
More than three hundred years passed before U.S. soldier, botanist and explorer Joseph Christmas Ives entered the Grand Canyon on a mapping expedition of the Colorado River in 1858. American geologist John Newberry served as a naturalist on the expedition, becoming the first known geologist to study the Grand Canyon.⠀
A decade later, John Wesley Powell, another U.S. soldier and explorer returned. His expedition produced more detailed maps of the Colorado River’s route through the canyon.⠀

Peak larch season only lasted for a few days this year around the Skoki region. However the trees were absolutely radiating and glowing for those short few days.

This was such a fun, amazing, beautiful hike. I so need to do more hikes out here in the Angeles forest! I live so close, yet explore further out. Hands down one of my favorite hikes 🔥
this past weekend, besides soaking up these views; i was led into contemplation when one of the women at our retreat, shared that her power value is humility. amongst other things, the best thing i learned is humility is a virtue i desire to embody. it is something i still lack, and something i desire to grow in. humility is not self deprecating, it is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.
“To even get near [humility], even for a moment, is like a drink of cold water to a man in a desert.
Do not imagine that if you meet a really humble man he will be what most people call “humble” nowadays: he will not be a sort of greasy, smarmy person, who is always telling you that, of course, he is nobody.
Probably all you will think about him is that he seemed a cheerful, intelligent chap who took a real interest in what you said to him.
If you do dislike him it will be because you feel a little envious of anyone who seems to enjoy life so easily. He will not be thinking about humility: he will not be thinking about himself at all.” — C.S. Lewis.
Yesterday I was brought back to my roots... It’s always a nostalgic feeling when in LA shooting the streets. It’s the reason why I started taking photos in the first place 📸 I’m grateful being given the opportunity to collab with the guys @creativepushers ! I highly recommend their apparel and absolutely love what these dudes stand for✌🏼
Never thought I would get to say this, but I threw rocks at my drone this weekend. After crashing it into a tree about 100+ feet in the air, it stuck on a branch and the only way to get it down was with rocks..

Gotta day I’d take a July night on the dock over being wrapped in a blanket watching the streets get plowed in November.
All the potential
In the world,
In the universe,
In the galaxy is
Unrooted in its reach
To feel the touch
It floats away.
Of an invaluable,
The value of representation.
At the core of most human interactions is a want to be seen, heard, validated, and part of an experience. We thrive when opportunities exist for us to exercise our talents and extend our thoughts through use of voice, AND, when there is a receptacle on the other side eager to receive and hold space for these expressions. Our interconnectedness builds this innate need to share, to commune with community. The call you hear for representation is the simple demand for space ... space to be seen, heard, validated, and part of an experience. Space that reflects want to create equitable distribution of resources, power, and voices.
S/O to Fall - the season. It has revived my love for crocheting (check the pictures neck piece created in under an hour) and initiated some serious self-reflection. Life, as of recent, has bestowed me with new professional demands, shifting adulting responsibilities, aging parents, and the recent transition of a very dear kindred, my Uncle Marvin. || Hello to today and to our NOW!
Does the shift of seasons create the same measure of reflection and impetus for change in you? Or is just me?! 👀🤷🏾♀️

« Ne laisse jamais personne te dire que tu n'es pas capable, même pas moi. Si tu as un rêve, tu dois le protéger. Tu verras que les gens incapables d'y arriver feront tout pour te décourager. Si tu veux vraiment quelque chose, il faut te battre. » ✨ [Will Smith]
