today I choose to place Jesus above the temporary things of this life
I can’t even explain to you how relevant this is to me right now (hence why it came straight from my heart). I feel like lately I’ve making excuses about getting into God’s word because I’m “too busy” or “there isn’t enough time in the day”
guess what? we as humans can always find time to prioritize something that we want to prioritize! this doesn’t mean that we aren’t crazy busy or have a lot on our plate, just that we CAN find 15 minutes of our day to sit and spend with Jesus.
It’s funny because I know how refreshed I feel after spending time with God, yet sometimes I prioritize other things before doing so.
However, I believe that it’s a personal, daily choice to say “today, I’m going to find time to spend time with God, even if that means I don’t have time to scroll through social media during my off time, or watch that next episode on Netflix”
I encourage you (and myself) to take 10-15 minutes tonight to sit in the presence of the Lord ✨
Feeling deflated? ☹️ A survey hosted by @iamwellandgood just last year revelaved that 90% of the particpants experienced stress and anxiety. 📈 It also showed that one in five users didn't think their hardships were "a big deal" enough to talk about them. 🤭 For National Stress Awareness Day we want to talk about struggles. 📣 Big, small, heavy or light (yes, even positive changes like a job promotion can cause stress), we all have them! 🙏What's one thing that's stressing you out today? What's one way you're practicing self care to manage the stress? 🧘♀️ Let's share below. Regram from @saatchi_gallery Disco ball by @rotganzen#thisisrange

Put your phone down (for a sec)
I shared some deep thoughts on our blog today.
Hit the link in our Bio if you’re into reading and stuff.
Preview: Am I the only one who thinks life in 2019
(almost 2020) moves at a ridiculously fast pace?
Between all the texts, emails, DMs and phone calls
we can find ourselves in a continual dialogue with 20 or more people at a time. If we’re not careful it can turn us in to creatures that orbit around a phone
I’m as guilty as anyone. Probably worse than most.
So, I decided to do something about it.
I bought a leather sleeping bag for my phone.
I’m making a conscious decision to put my phone
in this sleeve when I’m at work or with friends.
This means that my cell phone will no longer be
staring me in the face begging for attention.
I won’t see the notifications in my peripheral
and be tempted to break from conversation.

My poor eyes almost never get a break since I work from my phone. I’ve worn glasses since third grade and without my contacts I couldn’t see your face if you were standing in front of me.
So I not only need to protect my eyes from further damage, I can help support them to become healthier. Plus the skin support is a bonus!
Featuring lutein and zeaxanthin, this proprietary formula helps reduce eye strain, protects eyes from damaging blue light, and maintains vibrant skin.
It can also help support your eye health in the long-term—vitamins A and C both have properties that may help reduce eye health deterioration commonly related to age.
We are learning more and more the very real side effects of cell phone use…and, it is always important to remember that when something is fairly new in the world we don’t usually know even half of the risks before it has done a lot of damage and many people are suffering (again, like with talc powder, lead, mercury, sugar, hair dyes/straighteners, pesticides, pharmaceuticals…and the list goes on). Does this mean we should be afraid of everything? No. It just means that we should be as mindful as possible about what we have/take/use in our lives. A less-is-more approach is one that prevents our scales from tipping into an illness state, and that if it does happen we can more easily identify potential culprits (and remove/reduce them).
Speaking of scales, it is also helpful to keep the words “balance” and “moderation” front and center as intentions when it comes to everything we do. Even things that are really good for us, when done in excess, can sometimes push us out of the optimal wellness space we all want to be living in. With this in mind, this holiday season (and always) I want to challenge you to be more AWARE of your tech use (this post is just as much for me as it is for you). Notice how often you reach/grab for your phone just out of mindless habit. The articles I have been reading lately about tech use have kind of freaked me out…like “phantom phone” experiences people are having of feeling a buzz or hearing a “ding” when phones have been shut off and taken away…or the very real impact of not being able to figure things out or remember certain information, because we always turn to our phones to do it for us. I have definitely seen a change in my memory!
So…here is our assignment: to touch our phones LESS…even when we are using them (and this means not keeping them in pockets or bra straps, too). I love my phone stand, stylus, and air tube headphones from @techwellness for this exact reason. Not only do they keep me from directly touching my phone, but they also save me from looking down/“tech neck” (which is huge, because my neck tends to bother me more in the Winter temps). When making habit changes...
This tweet reminds me how I get asked about the restore portion of Reiki & Restore a lot. I hear:
“But I’m not flexible.”
“I can’t keep up with the moves.”
“I don’t do yoga pants.”
“I just don’t do yoga.” Reiki and Restore is a beautiful practice for EVERY body!
It’s all about pampering, not poses!
1. We only lay down or sit.
2. The only “right” way is to be completely comfortable.
3. No muscular effort and minimal stretching.
4. We are surrounded and supported by blankets and pillows.
5. Our rest and digest nervous has the opportunity to activate and heal from within.
And... It’s great for busy folks- it’s so bad-ass countercultural to *do less * unplug * unwind * and * slow down *
1. Have Realistic Expectations
2. Keep Up Your Self-Care Routine
3. Exercise (Even Just a Little)
4. Get Some Sun (or Sunshine Vitamin)
5. Take Care of Your Immune System
6. Remember to Breathe (Deeply
7. Unplug & Recharge ♥️Holiday Tip
Break the Stress-Sleep Cycle with Hemp Oil
When you’re caught in this cycle, behavioral changes like getting more exercise or time management simply don’t work well. Why is that? ♥️The fact is that behavioral changes require time, effort, and motivation. Precious resources you won’t have when stressed and sleep deprived. This is where hemp oil comes into play. 💚Hemp oil contains powerful plant-based compounds that can give you the boost you need to break free from the cycle. It biochemically affects the body in a unique way to help relieve stress effects and improve sleep quality. All without taking time-consuming behavioral changes. 🌿The good news is, researchers have found that cannabinoids in hemp oil can significantly decrease the levels of cortisol in the body thereby supporting your body’s stress response. ❤️However, not all hemp oils are the same, so consider this guide when choosing a quality oil. When you reset the stress-sleep cycle, you can find the motivation to adopt more healthy habits, become a better version of yourself, and work towards your dreams. 💚Link in Bio🌿
Do you ever get stuck in a social media rut?
I was in this cycle of scrolling ig when I didn't want to deal with my real life things, seeing people on ig rocking their life (or so it looks like), & now I feel like crap because everyone else has their life together! .
I had to take a couple days to unplug & focus on the things going right in my life. I had to remember that the internet is a highlight real & her kids probably actually do fight too. Her dog probably digs holes too. I only see a tiny square of her whole life & comparison is the death of joy! .
If my feed ever looks like I have my life together just know that I don't. Nobody does. I promise. They probably just cleaned that tiny square & bribed the kids to smile! .
#notetoself : wander often! In the age of #technology it can be difficult to convey the importance of disconnecting to reconnect. Especially during the #holidayseason we like to give a friendly reminder that it is essential to unplug every once in a while!
“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes...including you.” Or a few months...There’s no time limit on self-care. It’s easy to get caught up in flashy stuff, in OPP (other people’s problems, in what everyone else is telling you that you should be/do/feel. I’ve always firmly believed that despite all the outside noise and pressures of the world, I know who I am. I still believe that to be true. But sometimes you need a little quiet and peace to really hear yourself. I’ve always tried my best. Even if I didn’t know how things would turn out. I still don’t know how things will turn out. But I still haven’t lost that feeling that just maybe, everything is gonna be just fine. #selfcare#selfie#unplug#imbackbitches#optimistic#mood
Who said a digital detox or taking a WHOLE day off this weekend is easy? Look I get it. We don't want to be told to "slow down" or "breathe into balance". I am not here to preach some woo-woo spiritual voodoo to make our to-do lists shrink. We run companies, run marathons, and run our minds non-stop. So what if I say I am not going to judge you or myself if we have to pick up our laptops this weekend or take a few minutes to answer emails?
Instagram is the only social media I keep active anymore. Really only because I need some bathroom distractions and I have altered my feed on this platform so well that I pretty much see exactly the content I like. I think between Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and all the others platforms people are just to fucking distracted to pay attention to the world going on around them. The people I meet on a daily basis are uniformed and over obligated with nonsense. I see people’s lives filled with paying bills and buying shit.. I strive not to be one of those people. When I’m home with my wife and kids I stay off my phone and enjoy their company. All I’m saying is less distractions more engagement. Be present.
I need a DAYcation! We’re putting the final touches on the elements for @thefabgathering uber intimate retreat experience taking place today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

From my altar to your heart. If you are like me, your mind is like my internet browser. Nineteen tabs are open, three of them are frozen, and I have no idea where the music is coming from. #unplug#shutdown#selfcareaintselfish
