  • This is an image I’ve wanted to create for a long time. I woke up at 5 AM, drove 45 minutes from our hotel in Hurricane, and hiked about 20 minutes in the dark to get to the Canyon Overlook. I was worried it would be a bust as I was totally reliant on other people to illuminate the road. When I reached the top I knew I had a limited amount of time before light from the rising sun would drown out the lights from the vehicles. Fortunately, there was one five minute shot where multiple cars perfectly lit up the drive. EXIF: 20 mm, ISO 200, f/13, 311 seconds. .
.
This is a composite image. The sky was borrowed from a shot I took at another time and place. The sky was absolutely bland the morning I was in Zion, unfortunately.

  • 1980s- Zion’s West Rim Trail was originally paved in the 1920s with a combination of oil, sand, and rock. In 1985, however, major repair was done on the popular trail between Refrigerator Canyon and Angel’s Landing in order to repave it with concrete. This concrete would help prevent erosion and reduce the impact of the increasing number of visitors. This repair was no small feat; Walter’s Wiggles (named after Walter Reusch who originally constructed the switchbacks in 1926) alone were resurfaced with 88 cubic yards of concrete. The project required 258 helicopter flights to haul all of the concrete to the site, and then mules were used to haul it up to the switchbacks. So the next time you’re huffing and puffing up Walter’s Wiggles, just be glad you’re not hauling concrete! #100YearsofZion

  • Do you 💜 make up?? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m more of a tomboy myself but... figured I’d do a make up product sample image and share. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok all... so this is my very favorite skincare/make up line. EVER. I know I’ve been sharing product images of other brands and products, but THIS one I always use. This one I can speak from personal experience about. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve used different things from @elfcosmetics over the years, and just in the last few, have found myself replacing things as I go with items from this brand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They are 100% vegan and cruelty free! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pictured here are my daily go to’s: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Hello Hydration cream, Tinted moisturizer, liquid liner, shadow palette, defining mascara, and then depending on how you feel- setting spray and setting powder. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also have the full brush set but that’s not pictured here 🤷🏻‍♀️😊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I use my #norwex body cloth to remove my make up at the end of the day and then use the hello hydration moisterizer before bed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am over 40 years of age, combination skin, and prone to the wonderful occurrences of adult acne. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This brand is my go to... and what I purchase for my girls... and what if asked I would always recommend! 👍💜💯⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have a product you need/want images of? Sure... you could figure it out and do it yourself, BUT I’d love to take it off your plate and do it for you! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s chat details!

  • It has been said that the best idea America ever had was the national park. Starting with Yellowstone, there are now between 3-6,000 national parks around the world depending on how you define the term. I’d say it was a darn good idea.

  • Jumping contest at 11k feet. My son won.

Snowbird was giving free tram rides to guests who brought in food donations for their food drive. Tram rides are over $20 per person. Although, you can ride the tram down for free if you can hike up on any other day. That’s what we usually do. We being myself and toddler. The teens have no interest in that shenanigans. It was the teens first time up here.

  • 1970s | Zion National Park’s iconic Bighorn sheep haven’t always been part of the landscape. In the mid-20th century, Desert Bighorn sheep were locally extinct. Thanks to efforts by the National Park Service and Utah Department of Wildlife Services, the species was reintroduced to the Zion wilderness, growing from just 14 in 1978 to over 400 today! The best place to spot Bighorn sheep is on the east side of the park where they like to hang out on the steep and rocky terrain, and sometimes near Checkerboard Mesa.
.
1980s | Wild turkeys were once native to Zion, and then disappeared for dozens of years. After numerous reintroduction efforts, the turkey population finally re-established itself in the 1980s. Today there are an estimated 20,000 wild turkeys in and around Zion! Zion Ponderosa guests often see them on the road to Zion and exploring the ranch.
.
Zion National Park is home to hundreds of animal species, all protected by its National Park designation, whether they are endangered or not. Park visitors are often treated to wildlife sightings. Please remember that you are a guest in the home of these beautiful creatures and treat them, and their habitats, with respect by keeping your distance and never touching or feeding Zion wildlife.

Sinve then I've put 8k miles on her, she successfully crossed the country to Utah, and is always up for a dirt (or salt) road lol. You don't need to buy a fancy car to travel in, get yourself a 1990's Toyota Corolla

  • 1990s- In April 1995, a large landslide below the Sentinel (pictured above) blocked the Virgin River for hours after heavy rain. This caused a pond to form and, eventually, the river to wash out an entire section of the Scenic Drive. The impassible road caused 300 guests and 150 park employees to be stranded up canyon at the Zion Lodge for a day. What’s especially interesting about this landslide is that it was a small scale version of a much larger rock avalanche, referred to as the Sentinel Slide, that occurred in the same location almost 5000 years ago. The Virgin River was blocked by 10 billion cubic feet of debris that fell from the Sentinel, creating a natural dam and forming a large lake that extended all the way up to Temple of Sinawava. This lake existed for about 700 years and deposited the sediment that made the canyon bottom flat like it is today, which is why building the Zion Lodge was even possible. Without that lake, Zion Canyon would likely be a V-shaped canyon like others that have been carved by rivers. How interesting that the visitors who were temporarily stranded at the Zion Lodge during the 1995 landslide had a very similar situation to thank for the lodge being there in the first place! #100YearsofZion
