  • Runaway bride! jk! I did wake up early (who am I kidding I could barley sleep with all the excitement!) the day of our wedding to get one last run in as a single gal! It was a cold rainy October morning, but I didn’t care! It was my wedding day and I knew I needed to get a run in to start off the day! Come 1 o’clock, the sun came out and it turned in a beautiful day. Michael was having some issues with his bow tie 😂, so I snuck in a couple solo pics before our first look. He didn’t see these until our photographer sent them over 😊...don’t worry, I didn’t walk down the aisle in these 🤣 #tbt

  • THE UPS AND DOWNS OF PURSUING A PASSION PROJECT. 🙌⚡️

How many times have we all heard “follow your passion and you will never have to work a single day in your life.” 😯✍️
.
While it feels like one of the most incredible opportunities to be nurturing my ’passion project’ baby, there have been many surprising discoveries that have come with taking on this project.

Of course, there was a beautiful honeymoon period at the beginning part of this year 🦄✨, where creating Run to Reach felt like exactly what I was meant to be doing. I was on the right path (finally!) in life, combining everything I love doing the most. 🏃🏼‍♀️❤️

But then…the inevitable burnout period began to creep in, which I definitely hit a few months ago 😣. All of the glitter ✨ and excitement 🤩 from traveling started to wear off, the stress of all the finances involved began to peak 💸, even running started to feel somewhat anxiety-provoking 🙈.
.
Having pushed through this period, I feel grateful to have gone through this turbulent storm of self-doubt ⛈🥺...as it has now evolved into one of the greatest personal lessons I have taken from this journey so far : to simply TAKE a step back and UNLOAD those figurative bricks of pressure off my shoulders.

  • The last 12 days have been TOUGH. Between being in the hospital with Rylan, getting sick, tending to sick kiddos, and just trying to “survive” I’ve put myself on the back burner. I’ve got a few short runs in but mostly I’ve had to rest my body. I haven’t felt great about myself and in true honesty it’s been HARD.  I’ve let all those negative thoughts creep back in. So today I took this photo to show you how cute this @maventhread sports bra is but also to remind myself to choose JOY! ❤️ To not look at the weight I’ve gained, the time I’ve lost, or the fact that I expected to be much further ahead than I am on my postpartum journey at this point. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So here I am in all my imperfectness to share this simple message - focus on improving  where you are RIGHT NOW. Not where you once were (a year, a month, or even 12 days ago). I have to work with what I’m given right here and now and right now that means choosing joy, setting a plan, and continuing to chase after those same dreams even if they feel further away! 🙌🏻

  • Heute war echt der Wurm 🐛 drin, so’n richtig fetter Holzwurm ..... ich mit grossen Plänen zum Gym, hab nämlich das “Go” vom Doc bekommen, den Knöchel zu testen. Ich also brav mit indoor Bekleidung und exzessiven warm up Ideen zur Fitnesshoehle. 1.4 Meilen bergauf getrabt, Knöchel war zufrieden und mittlerweile in Begleitung von 2 Herren, obwohl  12andere Treadmills frei waren. Ich die Kopfhörer 🎧 rauf und weitere 1.6 Meilen gelaufen. Plötzlich schreit einer: “Stromausfall” um 2pm ......und ich so: “ich hab noch 3 Meilen”! Also schnell in den anderen Raum und 1000m auf dem Rower. Dann wurde ich freundlich zur Tür gewiesen. Argumente hinsichtlich der stromfreien Nutzung des rowers wurden nicht akzeptiert 🤦🏼‍♀️. Ich also raus, Regenjacke aus dem Auto geholt und die Schlüssel in der Hundekottuete aufbewahrt. Auf dem Weg zurück sehe ich , dass die Fitness Instruktors sich auf dem Laufband vergnügen 🤯. Lichter an, kein Stromausfall. Anyway, Danke, draußen laufen ist sowieso viel schöner 🏃‍♀️!

I see it all the time training women.  Running on the treadmill and having to pull up their leggings mid run.  Doing burpees or some kind of jumping exercise on the floor having to stop and pull up their leggjngs.  It’s the worst!! 😡

  • You know you’re in the middle of marathon training when you get super excited waking up realizing your 20 miler this weekend is actually only  18 😆 honestly this morning filled my cup in a way only a nice long run can after two weeks of traveling off and on and SO much people-ing for this closet introvert. You might be a Marathon Mama if running for 2-3 hours is literally the easiest and most joyful hours of your entire week . Finally get to start working this pace down closer and closer to marathon pace and  it feels really really good for the first time in 2 years . The Good Lord willing , this big goal in February may actually be happening 👏🏼#countyourblessings #slamtosanta2019 made it through Leavenworth SLAMin to Santa ! Now I’ll be here in the hammock enjoying this sunshine-y Friday in December 😎

  • For a while there, I thought my running days were done, at least for a while. I was running every other day, and then Klaus got sick. I was running 5 and 20k's every week or so, and then Klaus got sick. I had planned to run the Christmas Story 10k for my birthday, and then Klaus got sick. I wanted to do one last half marathon for Christmas, and then Klaus got sick.
And then Klaus got sick.
And then Klaus got sick.

With his legs failing, it's been up to me to support his weight on his necessary daily walks, which pulled out my hip in early November, effectively shutting down any hope of running. With weekly PT (thank the gods for tradework) things started to get better. I ran a little, but it was painful. I ran a little more, half of me wanting to limp home to the couch and cry, with the other half wanting to run like a madwoman.  It hurt, it was so awkward, it felt like nothing was moving together properly.

I kept pushing, and the pain became easier to block out. My legs began working with my torso. My breathing stabilized. Suddenly, I could run, and my time actually improved; while it still hurts, it's harder to recover, and nothing is 100%, I beat my PR for a mile. Then today, I came in at 10:07, something I've never done even when everything was working at its best.

Klaus is still sick, the races went on without me, but I can run again...and the stronger I am, the stronger I can be for him.

Life is feeling good now that I'm getting 3 runs in a week. I'm forcing myself to calm down and not try to do everything at once so I can work my way back up to where I used to be.
3 runs a week is seeing me at 22-25km/week and I'm almost back up to my normal weights at Pump again since my work trip.
Progress! It can be made, especially when you have great folks like these to share your passion with!

  • I'm struggling to link my existing Strava to my Garmin (forgot my password & it's a very old email address 😔) so my fancy new gadget hasn't brought across the 28k I've already done this month SO today has been a learning curve to say the least!

  • Last night we had our annual MRTT/SRTT (Moms Run This Town/She Runs This Town)  Holiday gift exchange and dinner. Most of these ladies I don't see too often but they are always so encouraging. We have road runners, trail runners, marathoners, ultra marathoners, run/walkers, half marathoners and the list goes on. Each of us has a very different walk of life but the one thing that connects us all is running. One of the many reasons I love this sport! *

  • I hired my first coach shortly after losing my election in 2018. I didn't know, at the time, exactly what I was looking for in coaching. I just knew it was time to change my approach to life.

Nothing had gone wrong, I was simply ready to grow in new ways. Within a couple of weeks, I saw so clearly everything I had been missing in my race. While I learned a lot about campaign strategy in the 10 months I was running, I hadn't become the person who could run a successful campaign. 
Mindset comes first. Every. Single. Time. If you're still asking the question "What do I need to do to succeed?" you're burning valuable time. From someone who has been there, believe me, the investment in growing your mindset is worth every effort.

"What I really need is..." Trust me, developing your capacity to manage your thinking and become a new version of yourself is the fastest way to change your life.

  • Last night meant more to me than I can ever put into words.

When I started on this journey over two years ago, I had no idea where it would go, I just knew I wanted to help people in whatever way I could. Two years ago, it felt like I was getting nowhere, but I didn’t give up and I kept working hard towards my dreams. And now I am living my passion every single day!

This group of ladies and so many others not pictured here, mean so much to me and I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without the support and trust of each and every person I have the privilege of working with, whether it’s in person or online.

  • Last night meant more to me than I can ever put into words.

    When I started on this journey over two years ago, I had no idea where it would go, I just knew I wanted to help people in whatever way I could. Two years ago, it felt like I was getting nowhere, but I didn’t give up and I kept working hard towards my dreams. And now I am living my passion every single day!

    This group of ladies and so many others not pictured here, mean so much to me and I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without the support and trust of each and every person I have the privilege of working with, whether it’s in person or online.
