In the living room, a lack of window treatments means plenty of natural light comes in. The white oak floors throughout the house have a custom stain mixed with white and a matte finish to dial back the yellow tone.

Even though the Fox family’s home was built in 2019, it has architectural elements of a Tudor, a popular style in the 1920s that usually featured steep front-facing gables, arched entries and tall and narrow grouped windows. The Foxes’ modernized Tudor has a mix of white-painted brick and Hardie board siding, with black accents that include the striking two-story window tower. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“We lived in a Tudor in Colorado for a few years and loved it so much,” Elise says. “It was an inspiration for us, but we wanted a style more modern, and brought examples of modern Tudors to our architect, who did a melding of them,” she says.

[@thefoxfamilyden’s] airy and bright master bedroom has high ceilings, wood beams and other comfortable elements that carry over from the rest of the house. “We wanted a lot of windows,” Elise says. “We had the bed already and knew we wanted a pitched ceiling in there. The beams from downstairs are carried through into here. It’s not a huge room; it looks bigger than it is. There’s a ton of light in here.” Elise’s mother, who owns two horses, had a lot of horse-inspired art that she passed on to the couple. “I have an affinity for horse stuff,” Elise says.

When I redid the bathroom I fell in love with the new cabinet color. Loving the bold blue is what gave me the confidence to go blue for kitchen cabinets. The kitchen cabinets are not exactly the same color, but give the same calming and fresh feel. .
I have learned to trust my instincts more with decorating. When we first purchased our home I painted everything white, or gray if I was really trying to get crazy. I wanted bold in my home but was too scared I could pull it off. Now... I know what I want fun, casual and relaxing with my home with an emphasis on bright colors and busy patterns. Decorating a home is a process and it constantly evolves. I may get sick of blue, but for now it feels like home to have blue hues. Do you have any decorating risks that you were afraid to try out but now incorporate into your home? #interiordesign#alwaysdecorating#homedecor#homedecorblog#diydecor#diyblog#bathroomremodel#bathroominspiration#instahome#bhghome#CLpicks#CLliving#myhousebeautiful#myhouzz#homerenovation#diyrightnow
Prepare your deck for Pittsburgh winters, they say! Cover your outdoor furniture to protect it until spring, they say! Take down all your deck decor because it’s too cold to enjoy it, they say! Well I say, this deck is my little snow globe and everything on it stays despite the dropping temps😍🙌🏻🥶! Can I hang out on this deck for longer than five minutes? Well no, but I can look at it through the sliders and it’s a very pretty view🤗😍. Besides, Oliver, my metal snowman has never felt more alive than he does right now on this deck!☃️. So, I say it all stays! Who’s with me😃🙌🏻!!! .
Especially my new sign from @summersnowart picture on my faux fireplace! It definitely stays!!! Check out my stories for a closer look at this beauty and my deck!!! This picture is stunning and absolutely perfect on my snow globe deck😍🤗❤️☃️. .
Happy Friday, everyone! Check out this luxurious bathroom vanity we recently installed for a very happy client. This vanity was completed with full overlay shaker doors, pullouts in sink bases, laundry pullout behind false drawers, upper tower with interior adjustable shelves, pencil foot detail, and crown. Pictured are the before, after, 3D design, inspiration, and final sign off prior to production. Thank you for the opportunity to work with you on this project, Kim & Lewis! We appreciate @lisastewartdesign and @triangleremodelinggroup for allowing us to work alongside them on this project.
Happy Friyay 🌲🖤
I’m loving the festive foliage range in @aldiuk at the moment 😍 and if you live near me and find there’s none left in the local Aldi... well, sorry about that 😂🙈

This week I finally finished faffing with the Christmas tree! ☺️🎄 It’s primarily white and silver again like last year, as I like to re-use decorations (especially as a few of them I only brought last year)! But this time, I added some copper, gold and bronze baubles, to add some depth to the tree and the colours tie in nicely with our kitchen decor.
The inside and outside of the house is pretty much done now..I just need to finish our staircase.
Have you got your tree and decorations up yet?
Oh my. Xmas gifts to hubby and me are all sorted now. It’s taken 8 years, some cute but misplaced chairs, many attempts to dress the space but we’ve done it. Short of constructing a whole wall unit (which I’m now disinclined to do) our “snug” is done. I saw these stunning mid-century chairs for sale @camphillantiques and I realised they’d be perfect in our lounge. One small fortune later, I think we’ve done it! They’re light, yet sturdy and not too big or bulky. The arm shapes are to die for and that bright orange fabric: wowee. Can one be in love with a piece of furniture? Because I think I’ve gone there!! #midcenturymodern#myeclectichome#myeclecticmix#myhouzz#mydesign#interior#interiordesign#hauteeclectic#maximalism

Use every inch to its maximum use, to include behind the door. Small linen closet that needs to also house cleaning products? No problem. By planning and organizing all possible surfaces within a space, you make every useable area serve a purpose. No more wasted space, no more disheveled mess. Today’s install 👌🏻 head to my story to see the before picture. We swapped the living and dining rooms in this vintage Victorian. Both have direct access to the kitchen* and the new living room has a lot more space!
Good lighting changes everything! It’s one thing that we give a lot of attention to, and often is one of the major spend items in each space. No matter your budget, there is always a way to make a statement. Don’t underestimate the transformative power of a lighting swap out.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In this case, the dining chandelier was a recent purchase before we were brought in, and it represented where our client hoped to go with her new home design. We (happily!) kept the chandelier, and worked the design around that coastal, serene feeling. We kept the new kitchen pendants light and airy, to leave the emphasis on that capiz shell showstopper!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of our favorite features of this house is the gorgeous exterior architecture Danielle designed! Can’t wait to see the final result when this beam is stained 🙌🏽

We wanted to start introducing you to some of our favourite local businesses. Being a small business ourselves, we recognize how the power of "word of mouth" goes a long way. So we must introduce you to the dynamic duo - Rashell and Gregory from Peridot Decorative Homewear. Their aesthetics are a dream and they have a way of incorporating elements of luxury and finess into all their projects. It has been such a pleasure to work with them the past couple years on our new design centre and offices. If you are in the #FortLangley area, be sure to check out their store! @peridotdecorativehomewear#NoveroLoves#ShopLocal

Not sure where I took the energy from. 😃 But in between all that Christmas chaos I’ve been determined to add some panelling to the dining room wall this week. 🙄 So off I went to B&Q after work. I put the wooden strips down on the shop floor first to get an idea how they look like once assembled. Yes, I got a few funny looks from people passing by but nevermind. 😆Check out my stories! It’s done! I did this all by myself. 🙌The best was: no sawing involved, no mitre box needed. No drilling, nothing. This is so simple and cost me around £20. It‘s all painted now and I will show the finished result in the next days. 🤗
I think I just finished my Xmas shopping last night which is record timing for me this year🙌🏼 We are opting to do just a couple gifts this year and splurge on some sort of fun experience for the girls instead of more material gifts. It’s a tradition I hope to do moving forward each year🖤

In a perfectly curated world, this is #reallife right now. Sometimes I feel like the cobbler’s kid without shoes. So, the Swiss Mister leaves for a work trip and I TOTALLY redecorate the house and put up a bunch of paint samples. This is what we are doing and you can follow along in stories!
1. New backsplash
2. New cabinet fronts
3. New table and chairs
4. Custom table by @secondchancecustom
5. Create an appliance garage so I don’t have to look at those ugly things!!
As I watch more snow coming over the mountains today, I’m so grateful we got this #mudroom done before winter! It’s been the perfect drop zone for boots, coats, hats, gloves, ALL the layers. I love a functional space, it’s so important to me that my home compliments our lifestyle. Adding some fun design elements like this #shiplapwall makes it more exciting too!
What projects do you all want to get done this winter? On my list: powder room, master bedroom and possibly a fireplace refresh.

It’s Throwback Thursday! We wanted to revisit this fun project from 2018, where we installed built-ins on each side of a murphy bed (by @wildingwallbeds (Edge Style Wall Bed in Alder wood - https://www.wallbedsbywilding.com/shop/product/E1/). Doesn't the blue paint and stain compliment one another so well? The paint color for the built-ins is SW 6478 Watery, lacquer match from @mlcampbellfinishes . Thanks again, Woody Built, LLC & McConnell family!

Ok, I have a confession to make.
Yes, I'm all about having the TV out of sight out of mind. I want to encourage conversation and read more books. BUT for the Christmas season we have brought our TV up from the basement and put it on the mantle above the fireplace.
I want to watch Frosty the Snowman while I bake sugar cookies and snuggle in front of the fireplace while we watch A Christmas Carol. (Quick digression: BBC one is doing an adaption of the Dickens novel and I'm losing my mind. It looks so good). I'm really excited for the holidays and that Greg and I have decided to pull out the king mattress and put it right in the middle of the floor where we just may stay put for a whole day at least.
However, I'm drawing the line at those damn hallmark Christmas movies. I've vowed never to watch another one again. Please no. I'd rather have a Lord of the Rings marathon. Somehow that feels like Christmas to me too.
